Katy Perry might be getting ready to Roar at the halftime show for Super Bowl XLIX, but is the 30-year-old also gearing up to bring alleged pop rival Taylor Swift down a few pegs during the mega concert? Nothing says teen drama like two girls going at each other from the safety of interviews and social media posts, but at 30 and 24 respectively, these two pop divas are a bit beyond the age of exchanging vague knocks at each other. According to Hollywood Life, Katy Perry is taking the major publicity of the Super Bowl halftime show as her chance to slam Taylor Swift once and for all for defaming her character.
With her candy-themed music videos and songs all about being a teenager in love, Katy Perry is more known for sweet and positive demeanor than for engaging in feuds with other musicians. Recently, however, she seems to be embroiled in some sort of long-distance cat fight with Taylor Swift. Is Swift finally taking a break from writing songs about her most recent breakup in her own tears and mascara to take on the older and more popular singer? She did refer to her “straight up enemy” when talking about other pop stars, but didn’t name names. Of course, depth isn’t exactly the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Swift, so most people assume she was taking a stab at Katy.
Katy must agree, because she didn’t wait long to tell Billboard, “If somebody is trying to defame my character, you’re going to hear about it.” Snap. We’re not sure what T-Swift said to defame her, but with that type of response it seems the “Love Story” singer isn’t going to have a new friend to bring to the second chance prom any time soon.
From this veiled threat we can also assume that the halftime guest Katy Perry’s been hinting at is not going to be Swift. Hopefully Taylor Swift will be able to “shake it off” – isn’t that what she is always telling us to do when we face things such as being criticized for lack of intelligence, chronic dating failure, and coming under a tremendously public attack by the reigning queen of teen pop?
