Could Nastia Liukin lose Dancing With The Stars because of her rotating dance partners Derek Hough and Sasha Farber. When Season 20 of Dancing With The Stars kicked off Nastia was an obvious front-runner for the Mirror Ball Trophy, and the fact that she had fan favorite Derek Hough on her arm was clearly working in her favor. However, in April Derek was sidelined by a broken toe and sprained ankle – and hasn’t been able to perform regularly with Nastia. On Tuesday May 12 one of the final four dance teams will be eliminated on Dancing With The Stars – and fans fear it will be Nastia.
Derek Hough has been a central dancer on Dancing With The Stars since the show began – and although dancing skills are detrimental on the show, at the end of the day it is all a popularity vote. Seeing as how Derek is very popular among DWTS fans, whichever celebrity he gets partnered up with tends to have an edge over the other competitors. Since Derek was injured, Nastia Liukin has been performing half of her routines with her interim partner Sasha Farber, and buzz among DWTS fans is that Nastia could lose the competition because of it.
Sasha Farber is a great dancer – but he doesn’t have the fan following that Derek Hough has. We like to think that when America votes for their favorite Dancing With The Stars team, they are voting for the best dance team based on their skills, but we would be naïve to believe that. On Tuesday May 12 the live semi-finals eliminations will air on ABC, and we will learn whether Nastia Liukin can hold her own without heavy-weight dancer Derek Hough on her arm. Although, Derek did perform one of Nastia’s dances with her on May 11 – it is difficult for fans to get invested in a couple when they are constantly rotating.
What do you think, will Nastia Liukin be eliminated? If she is voted off Dancing With The Stars – do you think that it will be because of her rotating partners, or would she have gone home anyways? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
