Nina Dobrev Disgusted: Forced To Kiss Ian Somerhalder For The Vampire Diaries

Nina Dobrev was forced to kiss Ian Somerhalder for The Vampire Diaries Season 6 episode 11 and she hated every part of it! Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder got a temporary reprieve from their romantic scenes during the early part of Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries, largely thanks to the writers’ and producers’ leniency. I mean, everyone involved with the show probably realized how awkward it was to make Nina and Ian continue their on-screen romance when their off-screen relationship was so fraught with tension. Thus, they managed to work around their storylines and create a scenario where Nina’s character, Elena Gilbert, and Ian’s character, Damon Salvatore, were separated for a significant period of time.

However, the Season 6 Episode 11 promo just released and it reveals the long-awaited reunion between Elena and Damon – something fans have been waiting for a very long time to see, but neither Ian nor Nina must have been enthused to film. There’s a ‘passionate’ kiss between the two shown in the promo, but I’m sorry, all I can see is awkward, awkward, awkward. Seeing Nina’s chemistry with Ian during the earlier seasons used to be one of the best parts of the show – and probably one of the reasons that ‘Delena’ became the show’s popular romance. However, their chemistry has long since evaporated, left only with awkwardness and an almost discernible tension.

Plus, sources tell us that neither Nina nor Ian were looking forward to the kiss, but it was only the promise of ending the show soon that made them both suck it up and go for it. They’re both professional actors, and they knew what was going to happen once they broke up. They knew the risks when they started dating, and now they have to pay the consequences. The scene is clearly stilted, but hey, most die-hard fans won’t even notice.
