Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, and Nikki Reed have been stuck in their own version of a love triangle for far too long, but that all ends after this season 6 of The Vampire Diaries. Nina recently announced that she would be leaving the Vampire Diaries after her six-season contract is up, and that she would NOT be renewing the contract in any way, shape or form.
Of course, that must have come as a gigantic relief to Nikki Reed, who has allegedly been very worried about Ian’s renewed friendship with Nina recently. Plus, we all know that Ian only broke up with Nina because she wasn’t willing to settle down and start a family and get married at such a young age, and he wanted all those things. And if she was going to take him back right now, he would go back to her in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately – or fortunately, if you’re Nikki Reed – Nina never changed her mind, and if anything, the whole situation with Ian Somerhalder and NikkI Reed’s engagement has only hastened Nina’s departure. She now feels that things have become more awkward than ever, and as such, doesn’t want to stay a minute longer than necessary.
Plus, Nina always had the most potential out of anyone in the cast, and now that her career is starting to pick up momentum, she’s not going to get chained down with a CW TV show – especially after her contract is up! She’s going to attempt landing those superhero franchises or some awards baity movie to show off her acting abilities, and then she’s going to use that to segue into a solid movie career. She’s still young, and there’s no way her team would have let her stay on a TV show that has been dive bombing in quality for the last few seasons.
