Tonight on CBS Person of Interest continues with an all new Tuesday February 24, season 4 episode 16 called, “Blunt” and we have your recap below. On tonight’s episode, Reese [Jim Caviezel] and Finch [Michael Emerson] protect a street-savvy grafter.
On the last episode, Reese tried to protect a software programmer who had a mysterious second life, but it was unclear which side of her life the threat was coming from. Harold and Reese are working a number of a young woman that works at a medical marijuana dispensary and who’s a college student. Harold and Reese end their call when Root comes in and finds Harold hard at work. She says it’s good to see he’s on task. She cracks that the world can’t stand to lose another pot dealer. He says Sri Lanka and she says they have good tea. He says he stayed away like she asked and Root says they should be looking to enlist.
Root says 7.1 billion people out there could give them some advantage over Samaritan. Root says the Machine wants her to build an app. She says it has to be a killer app to get attention. She says he’s busy on something else and hands him some tea. Reese heads to the medical clinic and flashes his badge. He says he has PTSD and has been shot. He’s shocked that this is legal and Harold says it’s a cash business because the banks could have the federal government seize it or take the bank charter since it’s still technically illegal.
Harper calls him skulk and dagger and asks what he wants. He says he needs something for his back. She points him to a product. Noah asks isn’t Trey making a bank run and she says he can’t send burnouts that smell like weed. He says they’re transferring cash to a secure place tonight. He tells her to lock up and go ahead home. She takes the cash and loads it in a bag. Reese gets a look then tells Harold it’s a cash pickup and says it’s Brotherhood.
He says it looks like Dominic is getting into the legalized security business. The car is surrounded by SUVs in a cartel ambush. It turns into a shoot out. Reese walks up and starts gunning down cartel guys. Noah runs out and asks who he is. He hands Noah the cash and says they were tipped off and knew the pickup time. Reese says the bags were switched when they see it’s a bag of books not cash. Reese tells Harold that Harper knew about this robbery.
Reese takes off after her and says her life is in danger. She says he’s a fake cop and tells him to beat it. He says he’s not going anywhere. He tells her she needs his help and he says to give him the bag while she still has a change to get out of this. She drops the bag. When he goes to pick it up, she hits him with a beat stick. Harold says her number just came up again and Reese tells him that she’s not who they thought she was and she isn’t interested in their help.
Reese heads to Harper’s apartment and Harold says she’s not even the real Harper. Reese finds a bunch of fake IDs and they wonder who she really is. Reese says she was tracking the dispensary’s cash pickups for weeks. He checks her closet – it’s empty – and he says she just dropped out. Lionel tells Reese that Harper’s aliases are tied to more than a dozen robberies. She steals identities then commits crimes. Reese says they have to find her before she changes ID again. He says they need to split up.
Lionel asks what his pal Mr Peabody is doing and can he help. Finch is out walking Bear and watching Root. He loses her and then applauds her ability to lose him. Dominic shows up to the grow house and tells Noah they were cartel and says dispensaries are taking millions out of their pocket. He asks Noah how the cartel knew when to hit. Noah tells him about Reese and Dominic says it’s Detective Riley. He says the cartel didn’t get the money, someone switched the bags.
Dominic says they have to do scorched earth to make sure this doesn’t happen again. He tells him Harper was working and her BG Trey vouched for her. He tells Dominic where he can find Trey since Harper isn’t answering her phone. Trey heads to his dorm room and grabs some leftovers from the fridge. He calls out for Harper, but it’s not her. It’s Dominic’s partner. She asks where Trey has been and he says there and class. She pulls a gun and tells him to sit.
He does. She offers him a joint and he takes it. She says she’s got friends upstate serving time for selling weaker shit than that. He offers her some ice cream. She says they want the money back and want his girl. Dominic comes in and they haul him out of the dorm. Lionel talks to Jorge, one of the guys Reese shot, but he says he won’t flip on anyone. He sees Reese outside and asks if he’s a witness. Lionel shows him a photo of Harper and asks if she tipped them off. He says he knows her as Maria.
He says he met her at Club Boost and says she loves to dance. He says he didn’t know the Brotherhood was handling security. Harper is at the club drinking champagne when Reese finds her and says they need to talk. He asks where’s the money and she says she spent on bills and then owed some others guys a lot of money. He asks what guys and she says the ones that own this club. He tells her they’re leaving and then Dominic comes in and he tells her she’s in trouble. But she already disappeared.
Reese faces off with Dominic’s guys then walks out. Harper/Fiona/Maria runs out into Lionel and she prepares to fight back but then he pulls out a taser and she gives in and goes with him. Lionel takes her to a diner where Reese sits with them. She’s cuffed to Lionel and isn’t happy. She says Lionel is the real deal but Reese is playing dress up cop. She asks if he’s former military with a side of hero complex. She says he’s got the posture and the hair like he was made in a factory.
Lionel says Dominic wants her dead and Reese asks about the cartel. She says it would have all worked beautifully until Reese showed up. She says stealing from criminals is a victimless crime. Harold says they have a new number – Harper’s friend Trey. Harold says his dorm room was empty and says not to let Harper out of his sight. Harold is following Root again. She goes into a building. Reese tells her that Trey is in trouble with Dominic.
She says Trey doesn’t know anything about her – not even her real name. Lionel asks her real name but she won’t give. She asks about Trey and Reese says they have to get to him before Dominic realizes he’s useless. At a counting house, Dominic talks to his sidekick. He tells her to find him more gamers for their laundering operation. Trey is being interrogated violently but he has no answers. Dominic sits in front of him and says his girl stole from him and knows things about Noah she shouldn’t.
Dominic says her name isn’t Harper and she’s a grifter. Dominic asks how she knows Detective Riley but he says he doesn’t know who that is. Dominic says he wants to believe him and says the dispensary owners have a bank problem so they hire him to protect them. Dominic says he’s using video games where people have online money and then they can launder money that’s used online. Trey says it’s really smart but says he doesn’t know anything.
Dominic says he thinks Trey and Harper are both loose ends. Back at Harold’s Harper checks out the place. She asks about Riley and he says they’re partners. She says she didn’t see that coming. Reese says he needs the cash and Harold says he has the amount she stole. Reese says he’s going to pay off Dominic to keep her safe. She says she’s been in deeper than this before. Reese asks if Trey has a death wish too and tells her to think about more than herself the next time she steals from drug dealers.
She asks about them and he says what they do is community service. She asks why he sticks his neck out for people he doesn’t know. He says everyone needs a champion and she says he’s a hacker and says it’s great for OCD. She tells him to stop gripping the wheel so tight and steer into the skid. She says she doesn’t plant roots so she can run. He asks about the ring she’s wearing that’s vintage. Harper claims she stole it from an old lady then asks for food.
Reese brings money to the grow house and says he wants the kid. He asks for Dominic. His cronies tells Reese he can leave the case. He beats one and pulls a gun on the other. He throws down his card and says Dominic can call when he wants to talk or he can keep kicking his ass from a distance. Root is talking to a young guy about her app. He asks if she’s working with an incubator but she says it’s just her on this project.
She says she wants to use his compression algorithm to allow her to sell her app for a lower price point. He says he’ll call once his boss weighs in then asks why she brought it to them. She says his boss’ reputation proceeds him. Reese is in a diner when Dominic comes to sit down. He tosses Reese’s card back to him. Reese says he’ll give him the money back but he wants Trey back in one piece and for him to leave Harper alone.
Dominic says it’s a deal if he’ll tell him who he really is. He says no real cop would pay off the debt of a homeless grifter. Reese say she’s not like other cops and says it’s not personal. Dominic asks why Elias gets a pass and he says Elias stays out of his way and vice versa. Reese tells Dominic that Elias is coming for him and he says he knows it. Reese says he can have the same deal if he stops killing innocent people. Dominic says she’s not innocent then offers to trade Trey for Harper.
Some guys come in and surround them but Lionel has a laser sight on Dominic and says he’s got him. Dominic asks if it’s the pretty brunette or Fusco. He says he knows he won’t kill an unarmed man so this talk is over for now. He walks out. Reese tells Lionel he can stand down. Lionel says Trey is probably dead by now and Reese says he’s a pessimist. Harper says she’s going to rescue Trey with or without them since she got him into this.
Harold asks what’s her plan and she asks if he’s good with technology. Harper comes to the club to see the cartel guys. Alfonso is upset and says Jorge hot shot. She says she has no interest in a war with the cartel. She says Dominic is consolidating the gangs and says she can help him get what’s his. She says Dominic is laundering cash a chunk at a time and has tens of millions on hand now. She says to put the word out that they found her and Dominic will reach out for a deal. She says she’ll take care of the rest.
The cartel takes Harper straight to Dominic’s stronghold. Reese moves into position with Lionel who’s surprised they’re using con-girl’s plan. Reese heads to the roof. The cartel and Dominic’s people face off with guns out when the cartel demands the money. Dominic says he had the money moved and has nothing to trade. Reese makes it to Trey who says his entrance was cool. He says he hopes he’s there to rescue him. John says Harper sent him. Reese cuts him loose.
Sirens blare as the police surround the place. Reese sends Trey back up the rope using a little lifter device. The cops bust in and surround the cartel and Dominic’s gang. Nico asks what they did. One cop says that the number is shaved off Nico’s gun and that’s a felony. Dominic flashes a permit and says he’s legit security. Dominic thanks Harper for the tip off to move the money. She says she got the cartel taken away to prove she was legit.
Dominic says anyone bold enough to steal from the cartel and him and clever enough to get away with it is someone he can use. He tells her when she’s done playing vigilante with the fake cop, to come see him. Harper hugs a relieved Trey. She tells him they have to break up and he asks what he did. Lionel tells him not to try and figure women out. Root is with Caleb Fitz, the boss, who says her code is amazing. She says she’s self-taught.
She’s going by the name Shannon. Caleb asks if she’d like to work on something as a team for him. Shannon says she never thought she was in that league. He says it’s a new security software and they could use someone like her. She says she’d be honored. Harold, Reese and Harper are out in the rain and Harold tells her she needs to stay out of trouble. She tells Harold he’s a good man and gives him a hug. She tells Reese thanks for reminding her it’s not just her ass on the line.
Two cabs crash and it draws their attention. She’s gone. Reese tells Harold she stole his watch and Harold says it’s okay because he stole her ring. He says she knows where to find him when she wants it back.
