#Stitchers begins with Fisher coming to the lab to meet Maggie. Les is there and introduces himself. He asks if Kirsten asked him to investigate Ed Clark’s murder then tells him not to and says they’re handling it internally. Fisher says that’s not how things work. Les says they have to keep Kirsten safe and Fisher asks if she’s in danger. Les says there are forces at work they don’t understand.
Fisher tells him he’s the boss and Les tells him he’s doing a good job. Fisher goes and Maggie says he won’t let it go and Les agrees. Camille and Kirsten are out with Fisher later and Camille is telling a bad date story. Fisher says he hasn’t date in a while. Kirsten asks why he still wears his wedding band. Cameron shows up late and Fisher isn’t happy that Camille and Cameron are there.
Camille drags Kirsten off to the bathroom. Cameron asks if they’re interrupting and Fisher says he just wanted to talk to Kirsten about Ed then asks what Cameron knows about Les. Camille asks Kirsten if she’s into Fisher and says Liam is barely out the door. Kirsten insists it’s innocent. Camille says she made the right call turning Liam down. She says they’re too young for this. Then they hear shots.
They run out and find that Fisher and Cameron are on the ground and seem to be wounded. At the hospital, Camille asks what’s going on and tells Linus and Maggie that they didn’t see what happened. Kirsten recalls an empty wheelchair. The doc says Cameron just hit his head but Fisher’s aorta was nicked by the bullet and he’s in critical condition.
There was a woman shot as well who has died. Maggie says she’ll get the body to the lab and Kirsten says they need to stitch in now but Maggie says it has to wait until Cameron can pilot the stitch and says maybe tomorrow. She tells Kirsten to go home. Instead, she goes to Cameron’s room. Camille and Linus come in too. Linus asks who would do this.
Kirsten says she’s tired of not knowing so much. She shows them the key and says it could have to do with what happened. Linus says it’s a safe deposit box key but they don’t know what bank it’s too. Kirsten says she may know how to sort it out. They go back to the house and go through Ed’s old bank statements. They find a likely bank.
Next day, Cameron heads to the lab – he’s on his feet and better. The others are shocked he’s there. He says all he remembers was shots then waking up in the hospital. Maggie tells everyone the waitress was single, no kids and was filling in for someone else. Kirsten says let’s find who did this. Cameron says he’s ready then tells Camille to come back him up just in case.
Kirsten tells Camille no backseat driving. They sync up and she’s in. Kirsten is in the restaurant looking through the waitress’ eyes. The shooter is a guy in wheelchair and Fisher pushed Cameron out of the way to save him and fires at the guy. They head further back into her memory. Kirsten looks at the guy in the wheelchair and the waitress tells the homeless guy to wait outside and she’ll bring food.
Kirsten bounces and says she saw his face. They use facial reconstruction software. Maggie says she recognizes the guy then pulls up an image. She says his name is Robert Barbiero and he was part of their first security team. She says he was a Marine sniper and was close to both of Kirsten’s parents. Camille talks to Cameron about how to guide a stitch.
She wonders why Kirsten is so good at it and he says he doesn’t know but she has a gift like she was meant to do it. He says the digital handshake is perfect and it’s like the lab is attuned to her. Cameron says they tested tons of people when they were first setting up. He says some couldn’t do it at all and some could catch a few memories until Marta who was pretty good but not like Kirsten.
He says they could scale the program if they could figure out what makes Kirsten so good at it. Camille says she’s glad to be part of it. He lets her guide a simulated stitch. Linus watches them and he seems jealous. Linus asks to talk to Cameron. Linus tells Cameron she’s not qualified but Cameron says they need a backup. Linus demands that he teach him to do it too but Cameron says it requires finesse.
Linus is offended that he thinks Camille has it and he doesn’t. He walks away. Kirsten shows up to the bank with her key. The bank manager asks if it’s hers and he asks to see her license. She says she doesn’t drive but has a state ID. He asks for her signature. He compare the cards and says she’s listed on the account but her signature doesn’t match. She thinks to Ed asking her to use his last name.
He had her sign a card as Kirsten Clark as a kid. She thinks about that as the bank manager says she can’t access it if the signatures don’t match. She signs again. It’s a match. He leads her to the boxes. They unlock it and he pulls out the box. He takes her to a private room and tells her to take her time. She opens it and sees a thick book – it’s the missing K encyclopedia from Ed’s office.
She takes it to the lab with her to show Cameron. She says Ed wants her to remember something. She says there’s nothing written or hidden inside. He spots a gap on the bridge of the book and shakes it. A drive falls out. He plugs it in at his place and there’s a video. She says it’s her dad. We see he has kid Kirsten in a little tank of water doing a stitch.
He’s testing the stitch equipment on her and says to find mommy and bring her back. He synchs her to her mom. We see early images. Kirsten says it hurts a little and he says to trust him. He presses on. Kirsten says her head hurts and he shuts it down but then she says no and to let her do it. She says she’s inside mommy’s head and sees them in there. She says she has so many memories.
Her dad says it’s working and Kirsten touches. He says to touch her mom so he can bring them both out but then the computers go crazy. They hear flatlines and her dad shouts no. Her mom is dead and he pulls Kirsten out of the tank. He’s crying and holding her saying how sorry he is. Kirsten is stunned. She says she wasn’t born with temporal displasia – her dad gave it to her by stitching it in and it killed her mom.
Kirsten sits numb and tells Cameron she had no idea. She says she was told her mom died in a crash and says it must have put her in a coma. Cameron says her dad must not have known stitching into a live person kills them. Kirsten says she remembers the night he left her with Ed and her begging him not to go. Cameron says he probably couldn’t forgive himself.
Kirsten says she wanted to understand what he was feeling when he left her. Maggie jogs with a group of militia looking guys. They bash their way into an apartment looking for Barbiero. He’s dead on the floor. It looks like stab wounds but there’s not a lot of blood. Maggie says he was killed somewhere else. Linus comes to Camille’s place and rants at her about Cameron training her instead of him.
Camille says she thought he’d be happy for her. Linus rants more and she says it’s not her fault he doesn’t have the touch. She says no one is trying to edge him out and he asks why she didn’t stick up for him. She says she’s sorry and didn’t know. He storms out. At the lab, they prepare to stitch into Barbiero. Cameron says they only have short term memories available.
Cameron lets Camille lead the stitch and she’s thrilled. Linus is annoyed. They stitch her in and she sees Barbiero in an alley. He gets a call from a woman. He says it threw him off when she showed up at the restaurant and says that’s why he didn’t kill Fisher. Kirsten says she’s outside the restaurant now. Barbiero argues with someone in a car and says it’s too late to stop it.
She can’t see the plates and says maybe Cameron did. Cameron doesn’t remember seeing the car and he mentions saving her at the Santa Monica pier. She says he was at the carousel and he turned it on to save her. Then we see Barbiero looking at she and Camille leaving the table. She touches Barbiero’s arm and sees him at her house with her mom.
She sits and draws a picture while her mom is there and Barbiero is there too. Her mom takes the drawing and kisses her and then Kirsten says she wants to see her mother again but the stitch is almost done. The person on the phone says Les Turner knows about Ed Clark’s murder but won’t tell him. She says everyone is lying to him and says she’ll tell him the truth when he’s ready.
He’s angry and says he’s being used to send a message to Kirsten. Maggie asks what she saw and heard. Kristen lies and says nothing. Kirsten goes to check on Fisher at the hospital. Cameron shows up and asks how he is. She says no change, still on life support. He says he better pull through. Cameron says she’s still in the dog house with Maggie for not telling her what she saw in the stitch.
Kirsten says whoever killed Barbiero knew he would be stitched and used him to send a private message like an answering machine. He asks what the message was and she says Barbiero noticed Cameron looking at him. She tells him to try and remember. Cameron says he wants to help and he asks when she will really trust him. Kirsten says she wants to but asks how can she.
He says he knows a way she can and walks off. At the lab, Cameron asks Ayo for something. Cameron says he may have seen the license plates and it’s in his head and says she’s going to stitch in and find it. She says he’s not dead and Cameron says the chemical will stop his heart for four minutes and she can stitch in. He says Ayo can then jump start his heart and they’ll know who the big bad is.
Maggie is opposed and Camille says his heart can’t take it. Cameron says Fisher may be dying and says if they don’t know who’s behind it, they could come after them. Les is there and says he agrees and says Cameron should be allowed to volunteer. Linus, Kirsten, Cameron and Maggie all tell him no. Cameron shoots himself up with the chemical and tells Kirsten he needs to keep her safe.
He tells her she has to do it and says she has four minutes then he collapses. They stitch Kirsten into Cameron. Les says to start the protocol. Kirsten says to hurry and stitch her in. She hops in the tank and they load him into the capsule. Maggie curses at Les and Camille calls to have the defibrillator ready and charged. They stitch her in. Camille put her into the wrong part of his memory.
Kristen says to move her and she skips around in his memories. It’s all about Kirsten. She says she’s all over the place and they are down to two minutes. Camille moves her and she’s outside the restaurant. She sees Barbiero and says everything is blurry. Linus says his brain is pushing back and that’s why. She gets pulled to a memory of Cameron as a kid at the hospital.
She’s in #CameronsMemories. The nurse says it’s against the rules to walk around and he thanks her when she say she can anyway. Then we see him outside her mom’s room and she’s there with her dad. He asks her what she’s doing and she’s painting her mother’s nails. She tells him they were in a car crash and asks why he’s there. He says he had heart surgery.
They talk as her dad sleeps. Kirsten looks at her parents then the young her starts crying and Cameron says she’ll be fine then says her dad is really smart. He says to trust him. Camille says to bounce and she does. They all run to revive Cameron. Ayo starts the process. Kirsten begs him to wake up. He flatlines.
