#Supernatural starts in Fall River, Massachusetts with the couple talking about Ghostfacers and the haunted vibe of the room. Electricity spikes and the guy curses. The record on the phonograph plays a song about Daisy Bell. He promises to protect her. The door creaks open and they look. The guy creeps towards the door with his fist drawn back and opens it. He says the hinges are falling but something is behind her. It has an ax and chops her. He goes for the door but it’s chained and he gets whacked too.
They are at the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast Museum. Dean asks Sam if he has a lead on the darkness. Sam says a whole town went crazy but turns out it was rancid possum meat. Sam says there were two killings at the Lizzie Borden house. Sam says the inn was locked up and the guests saw nothing. Dean thinks Sam is indulging his serial killer fetish and has always wanted to see that house. Sam says they have no leads on Amara so should check it out.
Sam says Cass is binge watching The Wire so they can leave him there. Mason is at the desk of the B&B while Sam checks out the Lizzie Borden souvenir dolls. Mason is frustrated because some guests are canceling because of the murders. Sam asks if Lizzie’s ghost caused the murders. His mom comes in freaking out that he forgot to cancel the pastry order. He says he’s been working with her for 20 years. Sam asks for the death room and Mason says they don’t want to rent it out of respect.
Dean hands over some more cash and Mason says they can get back on the horse. Sam asks what Mason might have seen that night. He says not until they heard the screams and says there was blood all over. He says the kids in the room were local and the guy was a Borden descendent. They thank him and go upstairs. Dean says the décor will make him throw up and Sam says too many doilies. They have one small bed and Sam says he’s keeping the room since it was Lizzie’s original room.
He tells Dean about the online gossip about ghost activity in the house. They check out the room and Dean asks what the smell is and Sam says it’s violet toilet water. Dean says he has grandma all over him and is going to check out the rest of the inn. Sam looks around with his ghost device while Dean goes downstairs. He gets a reading at a Staff Only door and picks the lock. Downstairs, Dean sees the axe framed on the wall behind glass and looks at the memorabilia.
He spots a brochure then the lights start flickering. Dean gets a chair and checks the fixture. He looks outside and sees a flashbulb go off. He startles a guy with a camera who then runs off. Sam goes up into the attic with his dark detector and it’s still making noise. Electricity hums and he takes a blanket off of something and says it’s a homemade EMF generator. He says he turned it off and his dark detector stopped. Dean says there are timers in the walls to make the lights flicker.
Then he shows a sound system in the wall behind a Lizzie Borden portrait and plays Sam some spooky sounds. Dean says it’s a tourist trap and Sam asks how the couple got axed. Dean says they can talk about it over a beer and calls the house a doily coffin. Mason’s mom turns off lights and we see the ax is gone off the wall. She gets it and there’s blood splattered all over. The cops are there and Sam flashes his FBI badge to Agent Madsen.
He says they came in undercover to investigate the original murders. Mason is crying over his mom and Madsen tells him they’ll find who did this. Dean tries out the dark detector. Madsen says Mason had locked up and no one was there but he and his mom. Dean describes the guy who was taking photos and the cop says it’s just Len who is harmless but ghost-obsessed. Sam and Dean go to check out Len and Dean says this is not ghosts. Sam says maybe it’s a real serial killer.
Madsen calls and says there’s another victim in the next county, miles away. Sam says he’ll take the crime scene and Dean can go on and see Len. Madsen says the babysitter found dad in the driveway. The sitter says she heard the dad shouting and then went out and saw the blood. Sam asks if she noticed anything strange before that. She says it was like any other night. The mom comes home and Sam flashes the badge. The woman tells him to get out and won’t answer any questions. He goes.
Dean is at Len’s house and he has a life size Lizzie Borden mannequin. He calls himself a superfan and curator of a collection. Dean asks why he was at the B&B tonight. He says he was trying to get a picture of her ghost and says Victorians used this camera for spirit photography. He says he’s seen Lizzie at the house but she never shows up on film. Dean asks why he didn’t go inside and Len says there’s a restraining order and a gag order not to talk about it.
Dean asks about it and Len says it was Lizzie’s 155th birthday and he camped out in the basement for a few weeks but didn’t bother anyone. Dean asks if he noticed anything weird tonight. Len’s computer chimes and he says he was supposed to lead a live chat tonight about the murders. Madsen tells Sam the whole town is in an uproar. Sam says the wife seems off and Madsen says people have freaky-ass reactions to loss so you never know.
Len is on the computer while Dean pokes around his place. He spots a paper with Amara’s mark on it. Dean confronts him and asks where he saw this symbol. He threatens the guy who finally says he was outside Lizzie’s house trying to get a photo and he saw a teenage girl outside. It’s Amara. He asks how old she is before he’ll tell her more about the crime. Amara says Lizzie’s parents sucked and Len says he agrees and he thinks it was the uncle.
Amara says Lizzie definitely did it – you could see it in her serial killer eyes. She smiled at Len. He tells Dean he ditched her quick after that. Dean asks where the symbol was and Len says he saw it on her shoulder. He says her name was Amara. Dean is stunned and asks again if she was 12 and Len says maybe a bit younger or older. Dean lies and says she’s a runaway and asks if Len knows where she is now. Len says he needs to find her and Dean asks why.
We see Amara grabbed him and tried to suck out his soul. She just took some. Len says he doesn’t know what she did to him, but he hasn’t been right since. He says he can’t eat, sleep or dream. He says the things he used to love mean nothing now. He says he sold his whole Lizzie collection on eBay last night. He says he’s just playing the part of what he used to be. Len says he went back looking for Amara so she can put him back. He says he was off before but he had a life and now he’s just empty.
He says he feels like he’s acting. He calls himself a robot puppet man. Dean calls Sam and tells him about Amara and that she’s in town and is in 12. He says he thinks Amara sucked out Len’s soul.
Dean and Sam meet to talk about Amara and they wonder if she has more power now. They wonder if Len is their Lizzie but Dean says he has an alibi. Dean says they can’t kill him yet since he hasn’t killed anyone yet and Dean reminds him Jenna started killing right after her soul was sucked out. Dean tells Sam that he needs to tell Len that his soul has gone. Sam says there’s no nice way to tell him his soul was eaten by a prehistoric tween.
Sam says Amara may have gotten to the hatchet man then says the wife had a bizarre reaction and may also be soulless. Sam says Madsen thinks it’s shock but Sam thinks mom may be the ax murderer. Sam calls Sydney to try and find Ms Pinsky. She says Dawn didn’t want her there today and Sam reminds her he’s FBI. She says Dawn has a special friend named Nate and asks for the video. They have Len in the car to babysit him. Len wonders if he has a brain tumor and says he doesn’t even like kitten videos anymore.
He says he feels like something dark with wings is hatching inside of him. Dean and Sam share a look and Len asks what they know. Dean handcuffs him to the car and says Amara sucked out your soul. He asks how he gets it back and Sam says usually you don’t. Len says he’s glad he knows. They are at Nate’s and they can see from outside it’s torn up. Dean picks the lock and they head inside. Sam sees Dawn’s car out front of the place. They look around with guns drawn.
Dean heads down the basement stairs with caution. The light won’t come on. He clicks on his flashlight and looks around. He spots a fold up bed and opens it. There’s a man and woman’s body inside. Someone knocks Dean down from behind. Sam finds Jordie tied up in the laundry room and unties him. Then the babysitter is there with a gun. Jordie tried to warn him but it was too late. Dran comes to and Sydney says she can’t believe she bagged both of them.
Sam calls her the killer babysitter and Sam asks if she’s going to hack them up. She says she’s past that and they’re an offering. Dean asks if Amara is her new BFF. She says she was drunk and has just been dumped when Amara warned her she shouldn’t be driving. She asked where her parents are and Sydney told her that her parents used to bring her to dumps like this. Amara says she likes dark places and found it on her own. Sydney put her jacket around her and Amara tells her she’s going to help her.
Sydney agrees she might need some help. Amara took her hands and held them and then Sydney started laughing and asks how she did it. She says she feels like ecstasy orgasm chocolate cake. She calls Amara and angel but that makes her mad and she says she’s not a whiny winged suck up. She asks what Amara is and Amara sucks out her soul then smiles. Sydney looks stunned. Sydney asks if they ever saw the iced tea commercial where the woman was drifting in the pool.
She says being Amara was like that – no sadness, no hurt, no memories. Sam asks why she doesn’t want memories. Sydney says her folks treated her like human ashtrays and shows them her burn scars. She says no more waking up screaming – she says Amara took away the pain and Dean says now she’s an ax murderer. Sydney says she’s free Sam works on loosening his bonds. Sydney says she can do whatever you want and not get caught.
Dean asks about the couple she axed and she says the guy was the one who just dumped her and the mom screwed her out of two weeks’ pay. She says now she’s just living the dream. They ask why she killed Jordie’s parents. She says she saved him and says his dad dealt meth and his mom was a slut. She says she’ll take care of Jordie. Dean asks how she’ll make them an offering to Amara and she says she’s praying and knows she’ll come.
Dean says bring it – we’ve been hunting that bitch for weeks. Sam gets loose and Sydney goes to shoot at him but Len mortally wounds her before she can. Sydney lies bleeding out and says the darkness is coming for all of them and says it’s so peaceful. Sam asks Jordie if he has any other family to stay with. Sam tells him his mom died when he was just six months old and says his dad wasn’t around much. He says he knows Jordie has lost more than that but tell him he’ll survive this and people will help.
Jordie says he has an Aunty Cathy who comes at Christmas. Len has his hand in a splint and says he ripped his hand out of the handcuff just to see if he could. He says it hurt but didn’t wig him out. He says he picked up his thumb like it was a hotdog. He says his brain told him to help them but he didn’t really feel anything for them or her. He asks what kind of person feels nothing when they kill. Dean says if there is any conscience left in him, there could be hope.
Len says Sam told him he can’t get his soul back. Len says he can feel that there will be another kill like a bubble rising up. Len tells Dean he can kill him but Dean doesn’t want to. Len says he’s going to turn himself in for all the murders so he’ll be locked up. Dean says there are not too many soulless killers who would give themselves up. Len says he’ll go through the motions for as long as he can remember what doing right is like.
Dean tells Sam that Len turned himself in. Sam says everyone has a different reaction to losing his soul. Dean says Len lost his heart and Sydney lost her head. Sam says he gets a pit when he thinks about Amara and what she does to people. He says she freaked Len out but Sydney loved her. He asks Dean what he felt like with her. He says it was quiet with her until she started all of this. Sam say she doesn’t like the idea of following bodies to her.
Dean says she might not be that hard to find at this rate. They get into Baby and drive off. Turns out Amara was lurking in the woods nearby. She waves and says goodbye Dean, I’ll see you soon and smiles as the car makes it farther down the road away from her.
THE END!
