Bay wanted to put the “incident” behind her and on tonight’s episode that decision was taken out of her hands by literally everyone else. And it all began with Toby. Apparently, Toby had told his girlfriend while he was looking for guidance and the girlfriend, a teacher, then reported it to Melody. And as administrator at the school, herself, Melody had no other choice than to initiate a proper investigation into the matter. Particularly, as a possible crime might have been committed in one of her dorm rooms. The very same ones she set up as safe place for kids with disabilities.
So with or without Bay’s consent, and Bay said she didn’t want any part of this, an investigation will be going ahead.
And that’s something neither Bay nor Tank want. Tank later went to Bay demanding to know what happened (more like who spilled the beans to whom) and when he heard she wasn’t going to be taking part in the official hearing – he initially thought, ok, the investigation will be have to be stopped. However, that’s not the case in this situation and when he also learned Bay wasn’t going to be defending him before the administrators – he tried to pressure her into doing what he said was “the right thing to do”.
Bay, on the other hand, doesn’t know what that is and on top of that she’s been having panic attacks ever since other people started to find out about their situation. The entire dorm in which the “incident” occurred in was notified about an upcoming investigation as well so now every one of Bay’s friends knows something might have happened. Though they weren’t filled in about who was involved.
Travis didn’t know that part until he was being questioned for the investigation.
And, before he could hear it from someone else, Bay decided to tell Emmett herself. But, sadly, she never gave him the full description about the night because once heard she slept with someone else – he stopped talking to her.
He began ignoring her calls and she didn’t know what to do. So Daphne stepped in. She told Bay that she would talk to Emmett and that she would even fly out to California if she had to just so that he would listen to what was going on.
Yet, what did happen because everyone has their own views and the story just keeps getting darker the more people find out.
Regina and Kathryn had found out and they tried to be there for Bay, but that was kind of hard after an article about that night ended up getting printed in the school paper. It seems the writer was kind enough to leave out her name the, but the commentators weren’t as generous. And even they had opinions they wanted to voice about what happened.
Bay was called a slut and some of Bay’s friends are split on the issue. Travis, for one, definitely felt guilty about not protecting her that night. His girlfriend, though, tried to cheer up by saying Bay was an adult and she should have known not to put herself in that position.
So Bay doesn’t feel comfortable talking to anyone. At least not with Daphne following up on her promise and chasing down Emmett.
And so Regina asked a young woman from the Student Crisis center to come talk to Bay. She had originally gone to the school to shut down the comments section on the news article but once Melody started to tell her about the centers young women tend to go to – Regina got an idea. However that idea did not pan out.
Bay didn’t want to talk to someone that was already pressuring her to join a rally. She didn’t want to become part of a movement and still didn’t know how she felt. Or what truly happened.
Hence, when Daphne told Emmett that Bay had been raped so that he could start returning his girlfriend’s phone calls – she really shouldn’t have done that unless that’s what Bay was calling it.
Bay had spoken to her Kathryn and Kathryn told her the one thing no else did and that was she shouldn’t devalue how she feels. No one else is in her position and nor should they be the ones speaking for her. If she’s not comfortable with what happened then she should say so. And she did.
Bay finally spoke to the people in charge of the investigation and, while she clearly stated she was at fault as well for dinking – all the board heard was that Tank messed up in this instance and that he should have walked away. So he ended up getting expelled even though she had asked them not to take it out on him.
So, as Bay is second guessing everything she said during that interview; Emmett came home!
THE END!
