Taylor Swift is no longer music royalty? That could mean a feud will heat up as Adele reclaims the number one spot. Right now, T-Swift isn’t the most powerful woman in pop music. The numbers are in – Adele’s newest album 25 sold 3.38 million copies the first week of its release. Swift’s “1989” CD sold an impressive 1.287 million copies the first week. But still, “25” is bigger than “1989.”
It isn’t just record sales that confirm Adele is back on top. The video for “Hello” garnered 27.7 million views on the day of its release. Swift’s “Bad Blood” first day views reached 20 million.
Is T-Swift fuming mad and gunning to beat the rival numbers with her next album? If Swift writes a “warning song,” fans may turn on Taylor Swift. Adele isn’t afraid to speak her mind, so Taylor should carefully consider that battle.
T-Swift has written songs trashing boyfriends and rivals before – though America’s Sweetheart will coyly avoid admitting that any song is about anybody in particular. But everyone knows T-Swift dissed Katy Perry with the song “Bad Blood.” The message Swift sent to Perry? No one will take down T-Swift, so don’t even try.
Bombarding all forms of social media with photos is just one of Taylor’s methods to stay in spotlight. That and changing boyfriends every few months – and making sure the paparazzi snap lots of photos of Taylor and the flavor-of-the-week. The “Hello” singer doesn’t need Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. to prove anything.
Could America’s Sweetheart choose to go the “let’s be BFFs” route with Adele? Why would the number one female vocalist want to be BFFs with Taylor? The British singer is a grown woman, engaged to be married, and has a very handsome three-year-old son. Taylor is still running around like a teenage mean girl with a new guy every few months.
If Taylor Swift can’t be the number one lady on the pop charts, will the singer try to make a move back to country music? Country music fans are a very loyal bunch and not so forgiving – that may not be an easy thing to do.
