“The Bold and The Beautiful” (B&B) spoilers tease that Ivy Forrester’s (Ashleigh Brewer) reputation will take a major hit as word spreads that she was romancing one Spencer brother while stringing the other along. But is Ivy the real bad girl here or is it Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood)?
No it wasn’t great that Ivy was telling Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) that she loved him while allowing Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks) to keep thinking she was in love with him, but she should get a break because she’s fresh off a shocking near death incident. What’s Steffy’s excuse for her behavior?
Here’s a look at some of the factors to consider…
Ivy knew better than to string both Wyatt and Liam along. Ivy harshly criticized Hope Logan (Kim Matula) for romancing both Liam and Wyatt. Now Ivy has gone and done exactly what she hassled Hope about doing. That makes her both a hypocrite and kind of a bad girl.
Steffy steals men from anyone she wants without regard. Ivy said recently that Steffy always gets what she wants – that’s true because she goes all out. Steffy stole Liam from Hope more than once then stole him again from Ivy. Steffy taking what’s not hers makes her a very bad girl.
Ivy tries to do the right thing (mostly). Ivy is not a schemer by nature. She felt genuinely bad that her fall into the Seine messed up Liam’s wedding to Hope. She tried to make things right and later made genuine friends with Hope. Even when it hurt her, Ivy let Liam explore his options. That’s pretty good.
Steffy romanced Wyatt and Liam’s dad. Ick. This one is kind of a deal breaker – or it should be – for both Wyatt and Liam. The good news is, she didn’t actually bed him so it’s not quite as awkward as it could be. But the idea of her making out with and nearly sleeping with their dad is pretty bad.
Ivy is optimistic that people will do the right thing. Ivy has given Steffy numerous chances to be a better person – like when she caught her in a bikini trying to seduce Liam. Ivy gives people the benefit of the doubt (usually) even though it comes back to bite her. That’s more good than bad.
Steffy uses sex as a weapon. Steffy has no qualms about using her body as a means to get what she wants whether it’s to advance her career, take someone’s man, or punish someone. Steffy trades on her looks and sexuality in every interaction – if that’s not bad, what is?
Ivy tells the truth even when it’s not to her benefit. Ivy has been in many circumstances where lying would have served her better, but she told the truth anyway. She did this with her immigration status but failed to do it about kissing Thomas Forrester (Pierson Fode). She’s a good girl going bad.
Steffy can be violent. Steffy killed Aly Forrester (Ashlyn Pearce) although it was provoked by Aly’s assault. The bottom line is that if someone starts something with Steffy, she escalates it by going nuts. That’s the same thing she did with Ivy with the electrical panel. Those are bad girl antics.
Ivy blackmailed Steffy. When Ivy has enough, she can snap. She was angry at Liam choosing Steffy and blackmailed Steffy with the video of her killing Aly that put Steffy in a much worse light than the reality of the incident. But ultimately she destroyed the video. Blackmail is bad girl stuff.
Steffy thinks what she wants trumps everything. Steffy will take what she wants from anyone and doesn’t mind coloring outside the lines. She did that when she ignored the restraining order and many, many times before. That’s definitely bad girl stuff.
The bottom line is that Steffy is the bad girl here – and Ivy has only engaged in bad girl antics when Steffy has pushed her beyond her limits. In the matter of not telling Wyatt she was going behind his back and pledging love to Liam, though, Ivy is clearly in a bad girl frame of mind.
Steffy can teach a master class in bad girl antics while Ivy never intends to be a bad girl. If we’re weighing intent, Steffy intends to be this way and revels in it. Ivy, on the other hand, wants to be a good girl as much as she can.
There’s more to come in the Steffy vs Ivy war – and both may get worse before it’s done. Stay tuned to B&B to watch it unfold and come back to CDL daily for more “The Bold and The Beautiful” spoilers, news and updates.
