Tonight’s episode of ‘The Good Wife’ kicks off with Cary Agos arriving at the firm – he starts calling the interns cell phones and none of them are answering. They have a huge meeting in less than an hour.
Cary searches the office and can’t find any of the interns. He calls their cell phones again and finds them all lying on the table in the conference room. It looks like either someone kidnapped their entire team of interns…orthey quit.
Alicia is in court arguing with Judge Schakowsky, her client Dr, Portnow missed his appearance time because he is busy performing surgery on a newborn baby. The judge doesn’t want to hear her excuses – he issues a warrant to have Dr. Portnow arrested.
Ethan shows up at Diane’s office – they are supposed to be filing Dipple’s case today. Diane, Howard, an David are arguing with Cary. Cary says that it is their fault that the interns walked, because they treated them horribly. Diane hisses at Cary that this is his fault….he is the one that started a generational battle at the firm and he needs to fix it ASAP. She rushes in to her office to try and stall Ethan.
Miss Page is called in to Ruth’s office. Ruth says that she needs her help dealing with Jason Crouse and Alicia. Ruth doesn’t think that they are having an affair yet, but she has a plan to make sure that it doesn’t happen at all. Courtney calls Jason Crouse and says that she wants to hire him herself. She calls him and offers to pay $50,000 if he works for her for two months.
Cary heads to the coffee shop to meet with the interns – he demands that they hand over the brief. They laugh and tell Cary that there is no brief, they never actually did the work. And, they have even more bad news – they are all going to work for Canning.
Alicia and Lucca head back to court with Dr. Portnow – who is in handcuffs. It is revealed that he was arrested for attempting to rape, sedate, and kidnap a woman and the judge announces that he is revoking Portnow’s bail, he has to sit in county jail until his court date. Alicia storms in to the judge’s chambers after court and accuses him of being bias against her.
Alicia reveals that she knows the FBI was targeting him for a bribe and that Eli warned him – the Judge screams at her to get out of his office.
The next day they head to court, the district attorney has proof that Portnow and a man named Ortolan were making plans online to kidnap and rape a woman named Lily Van Gaal.
When they arrested Portnow he had rubber tubing and chemicals in the trunk of his car that he planned to use to sedate Lily. Alicia argues that it was all just a fantasy – and Portnow never actually planned to kidnap or rape anyone. She insists that the supplies that were in the trunk of her car were just left over from work.
Jason shows up at court – Alicia wants him to go on the Dark Fetish website that Portnow was a member of and see if he can find any information. Jason tells Alicia that Courtney Paige called him and offered him $200 an hour to work on a job for two months and leave town. Alicia scoffs that she can’t beat $200 an hour.
After court, Alicia and Lucca head out for a drink. Lucca has mixed feelings about their case – she isn’t sure that she wants to win, she would feel funny if Dr. Portnow was a free man. He may save babies, but he fantasizes about killing women. Jason shows up at the bar, he has bad news.
The prosecution has tracked down Ortolan – the man that Portnow was chatting with online about wanting to kidnap and rape Lily. Apparently, The DA is bringing in Ortolan to testify against Portnow, and he is a registered sex offender. Jason asks Alicia to step outside with him, he reveals that he took Courtney’s job and he is on a plan tomorrow – they say their goodbyes.
Ortolan shows up to court the next morning, he reveals that he met Portnow online on a Fetish website. Ortolan confirms that he was planning to help Portnow kidnap and rape Lily. Lucca argues that Ortolan is lying and trying to incriminate Portnow because the DA promised to drop his most recent prostitution charges.
Alicia returns to her office and Eli is there waiting for her – he says that he wants to talk about Jackie and Howard dating. Alicia finds a book on her desk that Jason left her – it’s some sort of self-help book that Portnow’s wife wrote, apparently she is a psychologist. Jackie and Howard are getting married and they need to talk about a prenuptial agreement.
Alicia starts shouting at Eli, she screams that he made her lose her private investigator and she wasn’t even sleeping with her. Eli swears that it was Ruth that had Courtney take Jason away – not him. Alicia hisses at him to get out of her office.
Cary meets up with the interns, he promises them they will beat Canning’s offer and get them all on the fast track to partner after 5 years instead of 8. He even gives them each a $20,000 bonus check. They are suspicious and they want something in writing, but Cary says that there is no time – he will get them something in writing later, he needs them back on the Dipple case NOW.
Eli meets up with Courtney for their date – they head to bed together. Afterwards, Courtney reveals that she is headed back home to The Bay. Eli is confused, he asks when she will be back – Courtney admits that she isn’t coming back for a year. Eli is obviously devastated but he holds it together and leaves. Then, he turns around and heads back to the hotel room and pours his heart out to Courtney and begs her not to leave. Courtney says that right now her focus in business, not relationships – but she loved every moment that they spent together.
Cary shows back up to the office with the team of interns – he brings them in to the office and tells them all about the Dipple case and what they need to do for the brief, and then he tells them tht they are all fired. The interns are confused, what was the point of all of that? Cary laughs that now that they heard their side of the Dipple case – they can’t work for Canning, and they just screwed themselves out of a job.
Portnow takes the stand in court and explains that he never intended to actually kidnap Lily. The jury heads out and returns with a verdict – they find Portnow guilty of conspiring to kidnap Lily. The judge announces that he is throwing out the verdict, he doesn’t think there was sufficient evidence and the jury is wrong, he acquits Alicia’s client Portnow. After court Alicia is scared that the judge did that because she threatened him about the briberies.
Alicia heads home and Eli shows up at her doorstep, he apologizes again and swears that he had no idea Ruth was having Jason sent away. Alicia invites him in for a drink – Eli confesses that he had feelings for Courtney and she just left him.
Eli gets teary-eyed he confesses to Alicia that he erased a voicemail from Will saying that he loved her and wanted to be with her right before he died. He didn’t want Alicia to hear it and screw up Peter’s campaign for Governor. Alicia gets teary eyed and growls at Eli to “Get Out.”
