Tonight’s episode of The Good Wife kicks off with Alicia counting out $5,000 an paying off a man – then he kicks Alicia out of the room and chats with Cary about prison. Cary confesses that he has four years – the man that Alicia just paid off has been hired to give him tips on how to survive in prison. His jail mentor tells him that their first step is to find him a white convict in Statesville that he can trust and will have his back. Cary calls Kalinda and asks her if she knows any white guys in jail that will be friends with him.
Kalinda tells Cary that she has to call him back and then throws her gun in her glove compartment and heads in to Bishop’s house to talk to him. Kalinda explains to him that Cary needs help in Statesville and he needs someone to watch his back. Bishop reminds her that the last time she came to his house she threatened him and his son. Kalinda reminds him that Cary has always been loyal to him and he just needs a white friend on the inside. He gives her a burner phone and tells her that she will get a phone call in a few days because if he is going to do a favor for her then she has to do one in return.
Kalinda answers the phone and there is a man named Ray on the other side – he was in jail with Trey Wagner. Ray agrees to look out for Cary and casually mentions that Trey and his crew were exporting heroin and trying to start their own business. Kalinda rushes outside and calls Diane – she reveals that Trey and his friends were exporting heroin, but Cary gave them advice on how to import heroin. So, technically Cary is not guilty of conspiracy. Diane calls Alicia and they all agree to head to the court house and try to get Cary’s plea withdrawn.
Alicia is in the middle of a state’s attorney debate and can’t go to the courthouse and Eli refuses to let her leave. At the debate, Alicia is trying to defend Cary and explains that sometimes not guilty people have to plead guilty. In the middle of the debate Diane calls her back – and Alicia rushes down from the podium.
In the courtroom, the judge is not thrilled to see Diane and Kalinda back in the court room, he thought Cary’s case was over. Diane shows him the affidavit from Toronto police proving that the drugs were being exported and not imported. He won’t rescend Cary’s plea but he does agree to give them six hours to find proof that the DA’s were framing Cary and were covering up that the drugs were being exported and not imported.
Kalinda and Diane begin digging for information on the drug deal and contact the Toronto police that dealt with the bust. Kalinda learns that the Toronto police sergeant sent an email to Detective Prema and told him about the export, however Prema ignored him. Diane gets a subpoena from the judge to access Prema’s emails. They learn that it is a dead end – and they can’t use the email in court because it went straight to his spam folder and was deleted.
Kalinda and Diane haven’t told Cary that they may have found a loophole to get him out of prison because they don’t want to get his hopes up. Kalinda receives a phone call from the prison consultant and he tells Kalinda to get over to the hotel room and “screw his brains out” because he is about to go to away for four years and it is her responsibility. When Kalinda arrives at the hotel room, Cary has already spoken to Alicia and thinks there is a chance that he may not have to go to jail. Kalinda apologizes to him and tell shim that it didn’t work out and they couldn’t find any proof that the DA was covering up the export.
Kalinda heads back to the office and asks her IT guy if it is possible to hack in to the police’s email and make it say that the email was read. Luke warns her that it’s highly illegal and if they get caught they could get in serious trouble. Kalinda reassures him that it is a chance she is willing to take – and demands he tells her how to do it and says she will do it herself.
Back in the hotel room – Cary is having a meltdown with his prison consultant. He confesses that he was considering running away – but his mentor reassures him that four years isn’t that bad, and he could get off on two years good behaviour.
After Kalinda hacks in to the computer and changes the email, one of the lawyers rush in and have some information. They realize that Prima faked the transcript – and his old partner Rodriguez was I the room interrogating Trey Wager as well, but when they went to court Rodriguez’s name was dropped from all the case files and transcripts. She calls Diane and fills her in and rushes out of the office to track down Rodriguez.
The judge finally arrive at the court room and Diane and Cary present the judge with the proof that they found on Kalinda’s computer where she changed the police documents. Kalinda rushes in with real evidence from Rodriguez, but she is too late. Cary and Diane have no idea that the information they just gave the judge on Prema was completely fabricated. With the evidence that Kalinda faked and the signed statement from Rodriguez, the judge announces that the case is dismissed and Cary is not going to prison.
Diane calls Alicia to tell her the good news and she is so happy when she hangs up that she screams for joy in the parking garage and then kisses her baffled campaign manager.
THE END!
