RECAP:

#TheOriginals starts with Klaus saying they were naïve in the beginning. We see a carriage in France in the year 1002. He says they hadn’t learned compulsion and were just afraid of being hunted. He says they lived on beasts and ran. We see the man who got out of the cart snatched by them. We see Elijah lecturing the others on body disposal and running from their father Mikael. They talk about splitting up – Kol wants to head off in different ways since he can’t chase them all. Finn says he wants to split up.

Elijah says Klaus is right and it’s family above all and they must stick to their vow. Elijah says always and forever. Now, we see Klaus staring at a painting of one of the Mikaelsons. He curses the notion of always and forever. Freya writes to Rebekah and says Elijah and Klaus are still at odds over recent events. Klaus won’t apologize for the bloodshed or Hayley’s suffering. Elijah won’t forgive Klaus. Freya says they are a house divided. She says she has good news though and says Marcel controls the Quarter.

She says Marcel started a fight gym to test ones who want to be in the community. Elijah spars with him to get out some of his anger. We see Elijah beating on Marcel. Freya says Hope is thriving and Klaus is being a good father but Hope misses her mother. She says Klaus is no help finding a curse and neither is Freya. Hayley hates she can only see her daughter once a month. Marcel tries to talk to Davina about helping with daylight rings. She says she can’t be seen as a vampire sympathizer.

Freya says Davina is formidable as regent and can’t be swayed and she still hates them. Freya says Klaus is still meeting with Camille who’s acting as counselor to him. Freya asks Rebekah for advice on how to heal the brothers’ fracture. Freya complete the letter then crumples it and magics it – it’s gone from her hands. Camille comes to see Klaus and she asks why meet there – in his studio. He says he’s allowing her a private tour of his exhibition. Camille is surprised to see his paintings.

He says he has no reason to hide now his father is dead. Camille says she didn’t come for art appreciation and says she’ll go. She says she agreed to see him professionally and this crosses the boundaries they set. He asks her to come with him to his opening. She says to call if he wants to talk. Then she stops and says he’s worried no one else will come since Marcel and Elijah may not come. Camille says he’s scared and says that’s something he should think about.

Her phone rings and Camille says she has to go. Vincent and Camille head to a crime scene and he explains that he consults with the PD on any black magic type cases. Cami meets Will Kinney, the homicide detective and she asks why she’s there. Will tells Vincent to show her the body. The body is strung up strangely almost like a sick puppet and his mouth has been slit at the sides in a grim smile. Freya tells Hope that he can help her bring Hope to see Hayley tomorrow on the full moon.

Elijah says he can take care of it. Klaus comes in and they snipe at each other. Elijah tells Klaus he’s basking in Hayley’s torment. Klaus says she did try to run off with his daughter. Freya tells them not in front of the baby and Elijah walks off. Freya tells Klaus at this rate he’ll drive them all away. Back in the day, we see Klaus sitting with a body. Finn says they’re filthy gluttons. Rebekah laments the pretty clothes on one victim. Rebekah suggests they masquerade as that family.

Elijah says it’s dangerous since they don’t know the customs. Rebekah says the castle is packed and they could hide in plain sight. Elijah hears a heartbeat and tells them to be silent. He goes to the cart and pulls back a tarp. There’s a man. He’s scared but says he can help them. He says he’s a servant to the count and says he knows their customs and the habits of the family. He says he can help carry out the ruse. Rebekah asks if they can keep him. Elijah says, what’s the rule?

They all repeat – never leave alive anyone who’s seen what they are. Klaus suggest a vote. They vote to keep him. We see a real estate agent meeting with a man to sell him a luxury condo overlooking New Orleans. He tells her to call him Lucien then he attacks, fangs out. Camille tells Vincent the person took their time and the victim was alive. She says he wasn’t bound and just stood there not struggling. Vincent says he was compelled and may have pissed off the wrong vampire.

Will asks what they have. Camille says the wounds were intentional and may have meaning for the killer and this may be repeated since it’s meaningful. Davina greets the witches and says the ancestors told them to stand strong but not expand into Gentilly. She says no turf war with the vampires. One witch goes to walk away and chants at Davina pulling up fire around her. Davina puts it out but her hands were burned. She’s scared and angry.

Vincent and Camille show the crime scene pics to Marcel. He says his guys know better than to leave a body in the street. Camille says maybe it’s someone new and Marcel says his vamps aren’t the only ones in town. Marcel says it could be Klaus that did this. It’s the night of Klaus’s exhibition. One critic calls the work derivative and an ego trip. Lucien is there and agrees – he says his work is derivative. He says he recalls when Klaus compelled Degas to tutor him. He asks Klaus to get him a drink.

Elijah lays out a feast for Hayley at the cabin and hope is there too. A guy shows up with guns and says the property is now owned by Kingmaker Development and will be a golf course soon. He says they’re out there taking out wild life and killed six wolves last night. Elijah turns the stroller so Hope can’t see. He kills the men – the last told him there are other teams out there patrolling and killing animals. We see back in 1002, the Mikaelsons trying to blend in at the castle.

The man with them, Lucien, points out how to speak to the count and says to bow deep, let the man see Rebekah’s cleavage and talk of hunting. He tells them to stop staring like yokels. Rebekah panics but the guy says to speak as they practiced. Lucien introduces them and says they are the de Guise children and their father has gout. The count says he never heard of them but they all work their charm on the man. It goes well. Later, Klaus tells Lucien he’s been a great help.

Lucien says the Count torments people for fun including his own father. He says he and his gentle folk are slavers and killers and says whatever evil the Mikaelsons are, these nobles are worse. Lucien says he doesn’t care if they kill the lot of them. Klaus spots a woman and Lucien says that’s Lady Aurora and her brother Tristan. Lucien says they are both wicked. Klaus is interested. Now, Lucien talks about Kol being a lunatic and Finn being horrible to talk to. Klaus asks if he’s talked to “her.”

Lucien says he and Aurora parted ways centuries ago. Camille shows up and Klaus tells Lucien to behave himself then goes to greet Camille. She says she’s not there for the show then asks who’s the dirtbag. He says old acquaintance. Lucien hears them talking and Klaus calls him discourteous. Camille tells him about the vampire killing and Klaus says vampires are Marcel’s business now or Elijah’s. At a bar, Freya drinks and dances. Her phone rings and it’s Elijah. She says she’s taking the night off.

He asks if she can come watch Hope so he can run an errand of necessary evil. He says he doesn’t want Hope to see it. Freya says to give her a moment. Lucien asks Klaus if Camille fouled his mood. Klaus asks why he’s in his city. Lucien says news spread and every vampire knows he’s been attacked. Lucien says if it went the other way, they could have all died. He says when Kol died, two lines of vampires were wiped out. He says this doesn’t sit well with the others.

Klaus says anyone who has an issue can come see him. Lucien says these attacks show he’s not invulnerable and says his progeny are restless. He says even ancient vampires are in turf wars and says the three sire lines are at war. He says one of them might try to kill an Original to kill off the line. Lucien says the Mikaelsons are divided and weaker than ever. Klaus says they are unkillable as the last of the white oak is gone. Lucien asks if he’s certain of that.
[10/8/15, 8:01:00 PM] Rachel Rowan: Klaus says he hopes he would tell him if any of the white oak survived. Lucien reminds him he sired him and says their fates are linked. He asks Klaus to come with him to see something important. Davina comes to see Marcel and he asks what’s wrong and why she’s there. She talks about feeling safe when she lived in the church. She tells him she was attacked by one of her own people. She says they hate her. Marcel says witches in New Orleans tend towards homicidal.

He says the target on her back comes with the job. Marcel offers to help her. He says she has to respond with a show of force – him or some other way. Freya shows up via magic and Elijah dashes off. Freya tells Hope she had a few big girl drinks tonight. Hope is nodding off. Elijah is in the woods investigating the dead wolves. He breaks a trap. A man is there and then another. Elijah kills one and knocks the other down. Elijah says lesson of the hunt is to lay the bait. He throws the man into the wolf trap.

His leg is stuck and he screams. Lasers sights on Elijah’s chest and he says that’s precious then says it’s time for lesson two. Lucien brings Klaus back to his new apartment where there’s a party raging. Klaus says Lucien was never subtle. Vamps are openly feeding on humans. He takes Klaus into his bedroom and he asks if he’s planning a séance. He introduces Alexis, his personal forecaster. He tells Klaus she’s an expert and even does will in the stock market and guessing the winner of the Bachelorette.

Alexis says his ancient heart beats strong indeed then says he’s in danger. He says to get on with it. Alexis says to get the most of the experience, he should feed on her so he can see for himself. Lucien asks how long since they shared a drink. He bites her wrist and Klaus bites her neck. She says what he broke is beyond repair. She speaks in rhyme and says in one year’s time they’ll all be lost and he’ll seed the beast that is to come.

She says the threat doesn’t come from her and the visions come from him. She says if he kills her, he’ll never see what’s coming when he accuses her of threatening him. The last man runs from Elijah but he has him cornered. He says to tell him where the traps are and the routes his men use. Before he can answer, a woman attacks. He thought it was Hayley then asks if she knows where she is. The girl says if Hayley isn’t with hope, she’s likely dead.

Camille talks to Vincent about the vampire they’re looking for. She says they can’t send the cops to slaughter or tell them the truth. She gets a call from Will Kinney who says she was right and it happened again. He asks if she can come by. Lucien tells Klaus that something is coming and he’ll need him. Klaus lashes out and says he’s the thing that lesser men fear and he won’t be warned by lesser men. Lucien says prove it and quit pouting about family disapproval.

Lucien says Klaus is the most wicked, ruthless beast that ever lived and he’s there to remind him of that. Klaus says that truth has been laid clear to him over a thousand years. Lucien says Klaus has a legion of enemies. Lucien says he too has rivals who may come after Klaus. He begs Klaus to let him help and says he’s the only one he can trust. Klaus says he trusts no one. Elijah finds a stash of wolf bodies and sees a white one. He looks upset.

Vincent and Marcel spar and he asks Vincent if he still thinks it’s his guys that killed the two. Vincent says it doesn’t matter what he thinks, tourism will drop and the vamps will go hungry or spark a war with the covens. Marcel tells Vincent that he was supposed to mentor Davina and should be helping her. He says if the witches keep messing with her, Davina will get angry and that won’t end well for anyone. Hayley is with Davina and she asks why she’s trapped.

Davina says she drew her there with magic and Hayley says she needs to see her daughter. Davina says after she does something for her. Camille comes home and senses someone in her house. It’s Klaus. She says he’s trespassing. He says he came to offer a gift in exchange for a chat that he needs to have. She says come back tomorrow but he says it has to be now. She calls him flippant and self-absorbed and says bodies have begun piling up since his buddy came to time. She calls him an insensitive disappointment.

He’s hurt and goes to leave then she stops and says what she said wasn’t fair. He tells her to keep the gift and says he painted it for her. He’s gone. It’s a painting of the Quarter. Klaus finds the critic from the opening and he kills him. Lucien picks up a knife off a Kingmaker folder and cuts into his mouth the way the victims are cut. Looks like he’s the wolfkiller and the kingmaker both! At a monastery, a monk delivers a letter to a woman – looks like Aurora. She screams and kills the monk then says it won’t be long now.
