Alex Kane’s mother-in-law was in town. Unfortunately Barbra had come back to Las Vegas because she felt it was time to sell her daughter Ginny’s old house and so to do that she needed Kane’s signature on a few documents.

Yet Kane was in put in awkward positon because he knew he couldn’t just sign away Ginny’s property. Not without her consent at least seeing as she was not in fact dead. So Kane did the only thing he could do without admitting his wife was still alive. Like a grown man, he chose to avoid the problem by avoiding his mother-in-law as best as impossible.

And luckily that’s where The House came in. The House had called and it seems there was a new bet on the table. A bomb had gone off in Chicago and the players wanted to make a profit off of it. So tonight’s bet was “Can Alex Kane apprehend the Chicago bomber before the feds?”.

Thus Kane had the perfect escape – his job demanded that ended up taking a flight out to Chicago while Cassandra stayed back to work ADA. And that meant he wouldn’t return to Las Vega for quite some time. However Kane did have someone along for the ride. Johnson had boarded also his plane and all the other could say that would explain his unusual field trip was that he had business in the nearby area.

Though that business of his didn’t actually stop Johnson from checking in whenever he felt Kane’s savior complex was making him lose sight of the end goal.

Kane had apparently touched down expecting to find a terrorist but a little investigation into his bomber yielded some much needed facts. Like he wasn’t just dealing with a bomber. He was dealing with a deranged family man who was out on the warpath with a hit list.

And so Kane’s first concern had been the man’s family. He had wanted to know if they were safely away from the bomber though Johnson felt that wasn’t any of their business. He said Kane’s mission was to apprehend the bomber – not rescue the man’s family.

Yet Kane chose to do things his own way and so he sought out the bomber’s family in order to get information on his guy. And Javier Cruz wasn’t always such a bad guy. He had lost his job because of budget cuts and then he was about to lose his house. So he sought out an attorney and he found a way to keep his home but was betrayed by the bank when they went behind is back and chose to ignore all his letters so that they could have a claim on his home.

And what they did was illegal. So Javier then tried to fight the foreclosure by telling his story to a journalist. A journalist by the way who believed him and wanted to fight for him until suddenly someone paid off her student loans.

So Kane knew he was going to hit the journalist and he tried to find the woman before Javier did. But it seems he was just a little too slow that time because she had already been strapped with a bomb when Kane found her. And so Cassandra told him to leave the woman to her fate and go after Javier.

Only Kane hasn’t been so great at taking orders. He chose to stay behind to get the bomb off of the woman and he almost risked exposure. So Cassandra had to shut down media outlets and cell phones within a mile radius. While it was Johnson that went to pick up Kane.

So when the two guys found Javier, they stopped from murdering his last victim and Johnson decided to play a part as well. He went ahead in blowing the banker’s second home after Kane had stopped Javier from doing so. And although Javier was going to prison, Johnson had also made sure that some money would be going to his family.

Thus Chicago for all intent and purposes was a successful trip. But coming back home was full of disappointment, Barbra had waited around for him and she had been drinking quite a lot. So she ended up admitting that she knew all along that her daughter Ginny was a liar that couldn’t be trusted.

And she might have a point. Cassandra had stayed in Las Vegas to help Kane but she also looked into Ginny’s last whereabouts and there’s evidence that Ginny had still been in the city when Johnson reported she had been spotted outside a Miami airport. So Cassandra doesn’t trust Johnson, Kane doesn’t trust either Johnson or Cassandra, and meanwhile there’s actually a third party out there that is set on targeting Johnson thereby challenging The House’s authority.

THE END!
