On #VoiceFinale tonight, we will find out the winner of season 8. Every coach but Christina is still in this and there are a bunch of star performers plus coach performers. First, the top 20 from season 8 come out to perform together. They do Carry On by F.U.N. Joshua Davis, Sawyer Fredericks, Koryn Hawthorne and Meghan Linsey then take the stage. The other top 16 then join them.
The coaches discuss their odds of winning. They all agree this is the most amazing group of finalists yet on The Voice. Each artist gets to bring back some of their favorite vocalists to perform with them. Joshua brings back Deanna Johnson, Brian Johnson, Corey Kent White and Kimberly Nichole. They sing When She Talks to Angels by Counting Crows. As expected, it’s nothing short of amazing.
We then see funny fake coach auditions – Christina does Miley Cyrus, Sia, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Shakira and Cher. Then Meghan Trainor performs Dear Future Husband. We see Adam talking to Blake about their legacy of winning. Blake says he can tell Adam always wanted to be a cool athlete but isn’t cool or athletic. They show clips of Adam’s sports metaphors.
Christina says Adam would love to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated and talks about being a nerd. Blake says Adam would have been a good cheerleader and the other coaches suggest hopscotch, frisbee and foosball as sports he might excel at. Blake says Adam is more of an athletic supporter. Blake says he feels bad for him so he got him a jersey for The Voice with his name on the back. Carson has it hung up and says they retired it then comments that it’s extra, extra small.
Kelly Clarkson is there to sing with Koryn Hawthorne. They do I’d Rather Go Blind by Etta James. Everyone is on their feet by the time they’re done. Meghan Linsey brought back Sarah Potenza and they wail out Janis Joplin’s Piece of My Heart. Those girls have HUGE voices! It’s incredible. Next is Maroon 5 lead by Adam Levine, naturally, singing This Summer. The finalists and coaches then talk about their growth during the show.
John Fogerty is there to sing with Sawyer Fredericks. They do a medley of Credence Clearwater Revival hits. They rock the CCR tunes. It’s awesome to see a guy that young singing standards like that. Have You Ever Seen the Rain is their ending bit and it absolutely killed!
Next up is Joshua Davis singing with Sheryl Crow on Give It to me. It’s absolutely sublime! Carson says the artists met fans after the final four were revealed. We see the after show and a fan asking Meghan what’s the best thing about Blake. She says he’s hilarious and Blake reminds her he’s hot too. Joshua is asked what Adam has taught him and he jokes that he told him never to listen to Blake.
Blake tells them they all won a brand new Nissan and they’re excited to see their new cars. There are four different models and they each make a choice. Sawyer says he doesn’t even have a driver’s license. Blake tells Meghan he may need a ride home. They’re all thrilled with their new cars – apparently none of them had a decent ride.
Next out is Luke Bryan to debut his new single Kick the Dust Up. Carson announces the best GIF moment from the season was Blake doing a crazy “I don’t know what’s going on” thing. Blake says it’s not coffee in his Starbucks cup and that’s what happened. Blake says he had been drinking heavily. Koryn Hawthorne brings back India Carney, Mia Z, Lexi Davila, Tonya Boyd Cannon and Caitlin Caporale to sing Uptown Funk with her.
Adam sings a fake Ava Maria for Pharrell and Reba McIntyre. They give him some notes on his performance and he thanks them for the feedback. Reba says it was nice to meet Adam and he reminds her that they already know each other. Pharrell and Reba talk about how pure and innocent Adam is. It’s pretty funny. Next up is Ed Sheeran singing his new single Photograph.
[2015-05-19, 10:54:50 PM] Rachel Rowan: Next, Meghan Linsey sings with Kelly Clarkson and they do Invincible. Their voices are so strong and gorgeous. Blake and Adam do a funny Nissan commercial where they’re commuting to work together. It’s really cute. Sawyer does Lie to Me with Brooke Adee, Lowell Oakley and Mia Z. It’s really great – they all sound so good together.
Carson calls Blake a harmless tipsy cowboy but then says he’s got a darker side as a coach. We see “backstage” footage of him calling Corey short then being harsh and controlling with Meghan. He throws a bagel at her and tries to throw his chair at her. Meghan says Blake shows his love in special ways. Then he calls her Reagan and says he doesn’t have time to learn her name. Then he goes to terrorize the band and says they use too much hair product.
We see Blake on his phone whole Hannah sings then begs for water. Blake says “good job” are the two most harmful words in the English language. He torments Corey with a cowbell. JK Simmons is there (MR Whiplash himself) and says Blake is harsh. HA! JK says he thought country people were supposed to be nice. Carson then introduces the four coaches singing The Thrill Is Gone in a tribute to the late BB King. They really did the song justice.
