“The Young and the Restless” spoilers for Tuesday, September 8, tease that Joe (Scott Elrod) will bump into Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) at the athletic club. Joe will ask how Avery (Jessica Collins) is doing, but Phyllis will snap back that Joe drove her out of town. Joe will suggest that Phyllis wasn’t a good sister and she’s the one to blame. Phyllis will wonder why Joe is still hanging around Genoa City anyway. Joe will say his business is primarily based there, but Phyllis won’t buy his excuse. Lily (Christel Khalil) will walk over and strike up a conversation with Joe. They’ll discuss how Lily is working on her marriage and she’ll praise Joe for being a decent guy.
Jack (Peter Bergman) will inform Ashley (Eileen Davidson) that he’s decided to team up with Victor (Eric Braeden) to fight the Paragon Project. Later, Ashley will meet up with Phyllis and mention the threat against the Newmans and Abbotts. Phyllis will hint that Joe could be behind it. Ashley will be puzzled by the idea, but Phyllis will insist that it makes sense. When Ashley says she’ll bring it up to Jack and Victor, Phyllis will be furious that they’re working together. Phyllis will confront Jack about their partnership, but he’ll assure her that he’ll do whatever it takes to protect the Abbotts. Phyllis will reply that Jack is letting Victor come between them.
Other “Young and the Restless” spoilers reveal that Devon (Bryton James) will have a chat with Neil (Kristoff St. John) about Hilary (Mishael Morgan). Neil will talk about Hilary being afraid of heights and indicate that it’s surprising Hilary even went on the hike. Devon will be upset since he didn’t know about Hilary’s fear. Neil will console Devon as he tries to deal with everything that’s happened. Devon will also set a $1 million reward for solid leads on Hilary’s disappearance. Michael (Christian LeBlanc) will warn that it could bring out too many money-hungry witnesses, but Devon won’t care about that. The goal is to find Hilary and Devon will do whatever it takes.
On the island, Michael will meet with the prosecutor, who will declare that the cops have enough proof to nail Devon. Michael will disagree and suggest that Devon had no motive to kill Hilary. Meanwhile, Cane (Daniel Goddard) will talk to a witness who’s come forward with information about what happened that day. The witness will say he saw a man pick up Hilary after she fell from the summit. He’ll state that the man matched the husband’s description from television. Cane will urge the witness not to say anything to anyone else and he’ll take down his phone number.
Cane will give Michael updates on what he’s learned. Michael will think if Devon was involved, he wouldn’t admit it. Whatever the case, they have to keep this news quiet. At the boathouse, Neil will show up to see Hilary again. Neil will go on and on about how distraught Devon is feeling. However, Neil will indicate that it’s Hilary’s fault she’s in that bed saying Devon is partially to blame as well. Suddenly, Neil will notice Hilary’s IV bag is empty. Neil will reach down to check Hilary’s pulse and shout that she can’t die on him. Y&R rumors hint that Neil may regret keeping his dangerous secret.
