“The Young and the Restless” spoilers tease that some members of the CBS soap cast are currently walking on eggshells on set – and are concerned that their character could be cut from Y&R. Earlier this month the Television Actor’s Guild passed a new guideline, instructing that all soap actors will receive a 7.2% wage increase. You would think that “The Young and the Restless” actors would be thrilled by the raises, however there are two sides to every story. In order for CBS to be able to pay big name stars such a hefty wage, they are going to have to free up some cash by writing out some of the actors and their characters that are no longer relevant to any major storylines.
So which characters do “The Young and the Restless” spoilers tease are going to be written out? Well, based on multiple rumors floating around the internet and the process of elimination based on lack of storylines, we have put together a list of characters that we thinks may be up on the chopping block. It’s not that we want to lose any characters – but if we do, these will probably be the first ones to go.
Courtney Sloan – Kelli Goss’s character, Courtney Sloan, was once a key player in Genoa City, but she has recently been placed on the back burner and makes periodic appearances. On New Year’s Eve, Courtney shared a scene with her boyfriend Noah Newman in which it became clear Noah wasn’t ready to settle down and pop the question – which spurred rumors that the Y&R writers planned to break-up the couple. Seeing as how she has no storylines, and is about to break up from the one character that is keeping her in the mix, Courtney will probably be one of the first characters to go. Seeing as how we hardly ever see her anymore we could probably already categorize her as “gone.”
Austin Travers – Mr. Summer Newman really stirred up the drama in Genoa City when he first arrived in 2014; however, since he began married life with Summer he has been falling short among Y&R fans. “The Young and the Restless” spoilers recently confirmed that Kyle Abbott has been recast and is returning to Genoa City – which means that he will most likely end up with Austin’s wife Summer. So, theoretically that writers have no use for the character any more. We could totally see Austin leaving town in a huff after he catches Summer and Kyle together – and not looking back.
Kelly Andrews – Cady McClain’s character Kelly Andrews is currently embroiled in a “Battle of the crazy ladies” with Phyllis. However, rumors have been running rampant on the internet that during February Sweeps Phyllis will kill Kelly, whether on accident or on purpose, and Cady’s run on the CBS soap will come to an end.
Victoria Newman – “The Young and the Restless” spoilers recently revealed that the character of Victoria will be leaving Genoa City for an extended visit to Washington. Ironically, the spoilers were revealed within days of Amelia Heinle’s sister-in-law passing away and the actress deleting her Twitter account – which spurred rumors that the actress has quit the CBS soap. So far Amelia has not confirmed nor denied the rumors.
Joe Clark – When “The Young and the Restless” spoilers revealed that Scott Elrod was headed to Genoa City as Avery’s ex-husband Joe Clark – they never specified how long he would be in town. “The Young and the Restless” spoilers have been teasing that during February Sweeps someone who is “tall, dark, and handsome” in Genoa City will be killed off – and our money is on Joe Clark. After all, Dylan already threatened him with a gun and warned him that he wouldn’t think twice about actually shooting him.
