Beau Kazer, best known for his role as Brock Reynolds on CBS’s The Young and the Restless died just before the New Year in Thousand Oaks, California, according to media reports. The actor was 63 at the time of his death. Beau was a veteran of the long-running soap opera, having originated the role of Katherine Chancellor’s son Brock Reynolds in 1974. After he left the daytime drama in 1980, he returned between 1984 and 2013 on and off as Brock. While he is best known for his role on The Young and the Restless, he also appeared on General Hospital, Hart to Hart, and B.J. and the Bear.
Y & R castmate Daniel Goddard, who plays Cane Ashby, wrote on his Facebook page, “The Young and the Restless has lost another of its own. RIP Beau Kazer. I remember the first time I heard your voice and thought wow! This guy should have been in radio! Then I watched u act and was blown away with how natural and honest your performances always were. God Bless.”
Another Y & R friend, the head of hair and makeup, Patti Denney shared, “So sad to hear of the passing of Beau Kayser …Brock Reynolds on the Young &The Restless…Kay Chancellor’s son…rest in peace Beau.”
YR Insider posted a pic of “Brock and The Duchess” with the caption, “Brock & The Duchess: Always in our hearts…. RIP #BeauKazer #YR.” Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Beau Kazer is survived by his wife Sharon Alkus. The couple owned a ranch in central California. At the time his death was reported, there were no further details revealed about the cause of death. Sharon Alkus shared that “Y & R was a large part of her husband’s life and that he was very proud of [being part of the cast],” states Soap Opera Network.
Beau recently reprised his role as Brock in 2013 as part of the celebration of the life of Jeanne Cooper, who played his mother Katherine Chancellor on the popular soap.
