Fast and the Furious 7 is about to release in theaters, which means a tragedy-tinged studio tour around the world. We’re already starting to see tears and emotions flow out of the cast, considering Paul Walker’s absence and the fact that this franchise is now running on seven films.
Vin Diesel was at a Los Angeles screening for Fast and Furious 7, and he actually had a breakdown honoring Paul Walker at the screening. He started talking about his ‘best friend’, and then got so choked up that he couldn’t continue to talk. The crowd was quick to jump in and empathize, and it’s clear that everyone in the audience could feel Vin’s pain.
Vin also addressed some of the controversy surrounding the way the movie was filmed in the wake of Paul Walker’s death, and he mentions that as far as he’s concerned, the movie plays as a homage to Paul. It’s now been more than a year since Paul Walked died, so I don’t think it’ll come off as a crass or a simple ploy to take advantage of the publicity. Universal was smart in postponing the release date, because it’s given the studio, the cast, and Paul’s fans enough time to move on – or at least, move on to some extent. His friends and family, including Vin Diesel, will probably never fully recover from his death, but at least they have this movie as a way to remember him and honor him.
What do you guys think about Vin Diesel having a breakdown while honoring Paul Walker at the Fast and Furious 7 screening? Do you think the movie’s box office grosses will be affected by Paul Walker’s death, or will it fail to make an impact? Will fans flock out to see the movie, or will they stay home because it’s too sad? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
