RECAP:
#Zoo starts in LA with the tree full of cats. Jamie wants to call animal control. Mitch says it’s creepy but not alarming. He says a group of cats is called a clowder and it’s rare. Jamie thinks something is going on and she thinks it’s related to the lions. She says he’s being smug and he agrees to call animal rescue. He says they can call but she has to explain it to them. He looks around and finds honeysuckle at the bottom of the tree.
Jamie asks animal control to send a unit to an elementary school. They agree to send someone out. Mitch says this will be embarrassing. One of the cats attacks. He says cats respond strangely to honeysuckle. The cats all hop down and start running off and that’s odd too. He jokes maybe they heard her calling the authorities. The cats all go home. One goes in the cat door and upstairs. It lies down in bed with the little girl and starts purring.
In Botswana, Jackson is in a cell and talks to Kavimba and asks him to let him out. The guy says he can’t continue to interfere with tourists. Jackson says something is going on with lions and they need to shut down the safaris. Kavimba says they go through this whenever there is a dry season and the lions follow herds searching for water. Jackson says Abraham died out there and Kavimba says Abraham was his friend too and he’s very sorry.
Chloe is there with her suitcase and she says she made her statement about the lions and she’s going home now. He says he’s free for now and asks for her contact info just in case but she goes to leave. He says it’s only about the lions. She gives him her phone number. He calls Abraham’s cell. Abraham is in the tree and hears the phone. The lions pace beneath him.
In Slovenia, a boy runs to pet a little dog at a hotel and his adoptive parents run to pull him away from the dog. They ask the bell man to remove the dog from the lobby even though he says he’s a good dog. They are fretting over Andraz who doesn’t even speak English and who cries when the dog is taken away. The boy grabs a brochure for the circus and says in his language – tiger, tiger. They agree to take him. Jackson and Kavimba and another man go to search for Abraham in the bush.
They check the truck and find a dead body but not Abraham. They keep an eye on the grass. Jackson says Abe’s body is gone. They search the grass and find fresh blood and look for a trail. They follow. Jackson spots him in the tree and goes running for the tree. Kavimba and the other guy run for the jeep and go driving after him at top speed. In LA, Jamie is researching Reiden Global. She gets an eviction notice slipped under her door and opens it.
The guy says it’s her sixth month being late. She doesn’t see that her computer is being hacked while she talks to him. He says he can cut her a deal if she goes on a date with him. She says no. Her screen goes back to normal before she returns. Kavimba pulls the jeep under the tree and Jackson works to free Abraham. He says the ridge. The guys see the lions coming back. They tell Jackson there are too many coming. They get him loose. They speed away and wonder why the lions aren’t attacking.
At the zoo, the adoptive mom says the tigers at the circus are not natural. Andraz doesn’t care and is all smiles. The lion trainer has the beast doing all kinds of things as the crowd cheers. Mitch is doing a class on animal behavior in LA. Jamie is there and says she found a chemical called 24D in pesticides used by Reiden Global and says cows were fed with it then the lions were fed that beef. She says LA county started using it in Brentwood for a mosquito outbreak near the cats.
Mitch says they could look at the lion’s brains. He thinks she’s obsessed with Reiden and asks why. Jamie says they wrecked her hometown – murdered it. Abraham is in the hospital and the doc, Jackson’s mom, tells him that Abe had no bite marks, just some lacerations. He asks how the lions got him into a tree without biting him. He says it’s like they went out of the way not to hurt him. She says he was lucky. She asks if he found the others and Jackson says 22 were dead.
Chloe wakes from a lion nightmare in her cab in Paris. She gets a call from Nathalie and doesn’t take the call. Daniel runs up to Jackson and asks how Abe is. He has Robert’s tapes with him as he asked and he wants to watch the one about fight or flight. It’s about running or striking back. They pop the tape in and it’s about fear and the most primal aspect of the brain. Robert says animals will figure out they have the capability to rule the planet. It shows an aggressive small animal.
Jackson goes to check on Abe who says he’ll live. The doc says he’s doing well. He tells Jackson he saved his life. Jackson asks what happened and how he ended up in the tree. He says he went into the bus and he saw a dead man then a lion came at him. He says he knew he would die then the next thing he knew he was being dragged and thought he would be food for the pride and they dragged him up into a tree and they retreated up into the ridge and waited and watched.
He says he was in and out of it and prayed to die. Jackson says he doesn’t think they wanted to eat him and wanted them to find him to spread the message. They ask him what message and Jackson says they’re no longer afraid of us.
[8:31:20 PM] Rachel Rowan: Back at the circus, Andraz runs off toward the animal enclosures. Mitch and Jamie are told the dead lion’s bodies were destroyed. Jamie suggests he run the tests on a living lion. The zookeeper says sometimes lions just act liony and Mitchell says they just don’t want it to happen again. Jamie asks if Aspen can let them borrow a lion to test it and the flirty girl agrees. Jackson’s mom comes to chat him up and he says maybe his dad was right.
She asks if that’s where he got the kooky idea about the lions not being scared. He asks where the other flash drives are. Jackson says the rest of them might be wrong and 22 people are dead. She says there is no basis for Robert’s theories and says he lost his mind and was delusional. Jackson says he gets that. Andraz goes towards the tiger cages. They are pacing and agitated. His new dad runs and snatches him up. He points at the stuffed animals and his new parents buy him a stuffed tiger.
In Paris, Chloe is at work talking about a security risk. She is told she has a visitor – it’s Nathalie. Chloe says she shouldn’t be there but Nathalie says she can’t igore her calls. Chloe says being attacked by lions was not quite as bad as her sister sleeping with her fiance. She goes into the bathroom alone, finds a stall and cries a bit. In Africa, the bodies are being brought in and families are crying and distraught.
The doc notices strange things – she asks for Jackson. She tells him she’s seen bodies mauled by lions before but says this is strange. She says lions kill for two reasons – for food or if they’re a threat. She says these bodies were killed slowly and painfully. She says the lions changed the way they’re killed. She gives Jackson information for an address in Tokyo and says that’s where the other flash drives are. He says he’s not leaving her there with the lions acting up but she says there’s no time.
She says she doesn’t think Robert was right but if he was it won’t stop with the lions. Andraz plays with his stuffed tiger while his new parents sign the adoption papers. The little dog plays nearby. It stole Andraz’s stuffed tiger and the dad runs after it while the mom holds Andraz. The dog goes out towards the street. The man calls the dog and goes after it. The man curses when he loses sight of the dog. He sees it again and gives chase.
Mitch has a lion knocked out in the zoo’s lab. He notes that the lion’s brain is spiking in the hyper gamma frequencies when they don’t have them and the lion wakes when it shouldn’t. He calls Aspen and she says all the big cats are going crazy and are howling. He asks if it all started at 10 pm. He doses the little cat with a knockout. She says she has to go. Mitch says he thinks the lions are communicating with each other long distance. Jamie is stunned.
The dad follows the little dog Max to a remote area to try and get Andraz’s stuffed tiger. The dog growls. The guy grabs the stuffed tiger from the ground then notices blood and body parts all around. He then sees a bunch of large dogs all around. They growl and come at him. In Africa, Jackson packs his bag to go and Abe says he’s coming with him. He says he wants to keep Jackson safe plus he finds Japanese women sexy. They head out. His mom sees them off.
Andraz calls for his dada, but he’s not there. There’s a scratching at the door of their hotel room. She opens it and Max brings in the stuffed tiger. He lies down on the bed beside the boy and gives him the little tiger. Chloe heads home and a man named Gaspard approaches her and says they work for the same people. He says he needs to talk to her about what happened to her about Africa and says a related incident happened with dogs in Solvenia. He says the fate of the world is at stake.
