The 88th Academy Awards nominations were announced by the Academy’s President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, directors Guillermo Del Toro and Ang Lee and lastly, my fave of the group, John Krasinski. They read off the noms in Los Angeles early in the morning, January 14.
With awards season in full swing, the Oscar nominations are already fairly predictable, but some how manage to surprise us with a few unexpected snubs and noms.
The frontrunners look to be The Revenant with 12 nods and Mad Max: Fury Road with 10. My biggest disappointment would have to be that Star Wars: The Force Awakens did not get a best picture nod. I am not at all surprised, was just hoping for it!
Of the nominated films for best picture, I would have to say that Martian is my favorite. I enjoyed that one so much so that I went to the theater twice to see it. If you haven’t yet, you have got to see it!
Beyond the actual nominations and the Oscars that will be cherished upon reception on the big night, how about all the fashion hype?! Who will be best dressed? Who is going to fall flat on the fashion front? The anticipation of the red carpet portion of the night is almost bigger than the movies themselves. Almost.
What are your plans for the night of the Oscars? Will you be hosting or attending a party? Or maybe you’re going to enjoy the hours of fashion, celebrities and speeches from the comfort of your couch, wearing comfy sweats and a bottle of the bubbly…..however you choose to enjoy the show, cheers!
Chris Rock with be hosting the 88th Oscars on Sunday, February 28, 2016 which will be televised live on the ABC Network at 7 p.m. EST.
After you browse the nominations, drop your thoughts on who made the list and who didn’t. Also, we would to hear you confess if you’re more into the fashion or awards part of the whole Oscar scene.
