American Idol 2016 Recap – 12 Contestants Fight for 7 Spots in Final 14: Showcase Week #3: Season 15 Episode 13

It’s another exciting night of AMERICAN IDOL on FOX with an all new Thursday February 17, season 15 episode 13 called “Showcase Week #3” and we have your weekly recap below. On tonight’s episode, Showcases continue with the remaining 12 contestants of the Top 24 performing.

On the last episode, favorite former IDOLS returned to mentor and sing with the contestants. Then, after giving it their all, the first round of performers found out who made the cut. On tonight’s episode as per the FOX synopsis, “the remaining 12 of the Top 24 get their chance to shine as they perform for the judges’ votes. Who will make it through to the next round?”

Tonight’s show opens with Ryan Seacrest welcoming everyone – he tells everyone that next week they will be on the main stage. Tonight the remaining 12 singers are going to battle it out.  There will be 12 solos tonight and it is the solos that are going to be important.

Shelby Z  is singing Gretchen Wilson’s  “Work Harder, Play Harder”

Judges comments: Keith: “Tells her she looks great and she killed it on the last note.”  Jennifer, “She agrees with Keith it wasn’t sweet but she hit it at the end.”  Harry, “It was a great performance! It is going to be how you compare to everyone else.” 

Manny Torres is singing Coldplay’s “Adventure of a Lifetime”

Judges comments: Jennifer: “I love your voice, you could have connected more to the audience. You sounded good.”  Harry, “I liked it I don’t differ from what Jenny said.”  Keith, “I love the way you work the camera.  I don’t think that was a good song for your vocal type.”

Kory Wheeler is singing “Let it Go” by James Bay

Judges comments: Harry: “I thought it was pretty good, I did not think it was special.”  Jennifer: “I thought it was the most comfortable on stage.”  Keith: “I liked it and I think it was a perfect song choice to show your confidence and vulnerability.”

Amelia Eisenhower is singing “Wake Me Up” by Avicii

Judges comments: Keith: “I liked it I don’t know if it was the perfect song but I liked it.  Jennifer: ” I agree, not sure it was the right song but liked it you are special girl.”  Harry, “You need to find a song that is a little quirky because you are a special girl!”

Jenn Blosil is singing “Sorry” by Justin Bieber

Judges comments: Harry: “I think you have a lot of fans and you deserved it you are a breath of fresh air.  Your song was out of tune.”  Keith, “There was a sense of what you were trying to do.”  Jennifer, “We know what you were trying to do.  When you go to the end of it it was great.”

CJ Johnson singing “I’ll Be” but Edwin McCain

Judges comments: Keith, “From the second you started singing it was the preface song.  A real good job.”  Jennifer:  “Great song, great vocals I felt you sang it to me.”  Harry, “Great song but make sure you sing in tune.”

Lee John singing “Runaway” By Ed Sheeran

Judges comments: Keith: “They love you man, I love your voice.  But ya gotta find the right song.”  Jennifer,” Everyone are picking songs tonight that are not those big songs.  We need you awhile.  I love your look.”  Harry, “I want you to start practicing playing and singing.  This was one of the better performances of the night.”

Trent Harmon singing “What Are You Listening To”  By Chris Stapleton

Judges comments: Jennifer: “I really love you – I feel when you sing it gets to my heart.  You really have something I feel will keep you here for a long time.”  Harry: “You are one of the gifted singer here but I am not sure it was the right song.”  Keith: “I thought it was a great song and you sang it very well.”

Tristan McIntosh singing “Good Girl” by Carrie Underwood

Judges comments: Jennifer: “I felt like towards the end it picked up a lot.”  Harry, “You are super talented and I heard you do what you have no done, sing loud.  It was fine but is that the performance you would sing on the finale.”  Keith, “You look like a million bucks and you have so much talent.  But that was not the song for you.”

Adam Lasher singing “Black and Gold” by Sam Sparro

Judges comments: Harry: “I will say you are a man after my own heart.  You know well that was a shuffle.  It is your job to set the groove for them.  I felt you were wishy washy.”  Keith: “I am baffled why you would choose that song.  You have to find the song that is going to kill it.”  Jennifer: “I have to agree that was not the song for you.”

Dalton Rapattoni singing “Rebel Yell” by Billy Idol

Judges comments: Jennifer: “Dalton, you know I don’t care about anything but that made me feel so good.  First off all you are pretty as can be.  Great performance.”  Harry: “It was a phenomenal performance of that song.”  Keith, “You never disappoint I love that you have your own genre.  Very cool!”

Olivia Rox singing “Confident” by Demi Lovato

Judges Comments: Harry: “Very cool.  That is the kind of music you need to do.  It was really strong.”  Keith: “And the show starts now, it was so good.  You have an amazing gift.”  Jennifer: “There is not much advice we can give you.  You have to get into your rock chick.  Your voice is great!”

Make sure to tune in tomorrow when former Idols will join the hopeful Idols on the stage for duets!
