Tonight’s episode of “Animal Kingdom” begins with Pope in jail while Baz goes on a joyride with Nicky’s father. Smurf goes to the jail to bail out Pope where the parole officer tells her that Pope was arrested for failing a drug test, a violation of his parole. The officer tells her that if he violates his probation again, he’ll go back to jail. Ending their joy ride, Baz keeps a close eye on the briefcase that Nicky’s father never lets out of his sight, sensing that a potential job opportunity could be near. At school, J and Nicky discuss J coming over for dinner.
As they enter the classroom, Ms. Anderson is absent and J texts her to find out where she is. At her home, Anderson tells the detective that she no longer wants to wear a wire now that she has developed a relationship with J. The detective reminds her that she has to continue wearing the wire or else she will go to jail for buying heroin from an undercover cop.
Baz continues to attempt to get closer to Nicky’s father in hopes of getting the briefcase. Nicky’s father divulges that he has the power to shut down all the ATMs aboard a Navy ship and could hide the cash without getting caught.
Back at the jail, Pope tells Smurf that he tested positive for LSD, but denies having ever taken it. The detective takes Anderson to see a house of two people who worked with Smurf. After she realized that they were informants, she sent Pope to burn their house down, killing them both. The detective tells Anderson that the only way to protect J from Smurf is to continue her relationship with him.
Back at Smurf’s house, Baz fills the others in on his plan to hit Camp Pendleton, using Nicky’s father. Pope argues that it is dangerous to trust an outsider on a job. Smurf tells Baz to continue working the plan to see how possible it is. In a private conversation with Smurf, Baz asks about the complication with the plan when J finds out that they are using Nicky’s father as a mark. Unconcerned, Smurf says she will handle it. She tells Baz that she also has reservations about hitting a military base and Baz assures her that his plan will work.
The boys continue to discuss their reservations about Baz’s plan. J prepares to go to dinner with Nicky’s family. Smurf tells the boys they need to start working on the plan immediately or else she will give a part of their take to Pope.
Kat confronts Baz about him lying about his whereabouts earlier while he was at his dad’s place. He confesses that he has been in contact with his father and that Smurf doesn’t know. His father is now gone.At Wren’s party, Craig and his friends do drugs before he and Wren have sex.

After injecting the syringe into his arm, they tell him that it was only saline and not heroin, but that he owes Wren $6,800 and that they will let him live if he gives them the money. Handing him a cell phone, Craig calls Smurf to bring the money.
