#Blindspot starts with a man concealing a gun inside a video camera like news broadcasts use. Jane stands cutting her hair looking in the mirror as she goes. She has a flashback to a woman’s hand with a ring on it when she was injured. Shepherd helps her even out her hair.
Jane says she wanted a change and her mom says it looks good. She asks if Jane is okay and she says she just remembered a lady doc who was treating her for injuries in a house. She wonders if it was after she survived the attack. Jane asks if she mentioned a doc to her and her mom nods.
She says the doctor found her wandering near death and saved Jane’s life. Jane asks where the woman is and her mom says she told her she was killed after an attack on the town while Jane was out walking in the mountains for her rehab. Jane asks how she got back to the US.
Shepherd tends her flock
Her mom says she stowed away on a cargo ship. Jane remembers none of it. Shepherd says all that matters is that she’s home with family. Kurt asks Nas why Sandstorm was watching him. Nas says they need to keep digging. Kurt finds a phone in the files.
Nas says they can’t crack the encryption – she says it’s something they haven’t seen before. Nas asks him about military school and he says he struggled in school because of his father and says he used to break out and come home to check on Sarah.
Kurt says he won the scholarships she asked about because he was underprivileged. Tasha comes in and says she figured out the black hole photo from the USB drive. Tasha says she went to Shadowcat. Nas says no way and Tasha admits it’s too late. She says it’s laminar flow.
Patterson and Borden – game on!
Nas tells Kurt that it’s like when you pour milk into your coffee. You just need to rewind it and she says she’ll get the NSA on it but threatens Tasha before she goes for sharing confidential info. Kurt gets a text and has to leave to meet Allie at the doctor.
Reed is in his car and is hassled by security. He’s still outside the coach’s house. He drives away. Patterson and Borden brush their teeth together and talk after a night spent together. He asks her if she wants to ride in to work together. Patterson agrees.
Borden kisses her and runs to get dressed. Later, Kurt and Allie are at her OB/GYN appointment and he asks about her stepping out of the field for now. He says it’s a dangerous job but Allie won’t hear it. Kurt presses her on it and says think about the baby. She says it’ll be fine and dismisses his concerns.
Meanwhile back at the ranch
Reed asks to take a personal day and Kurt agrees. Kurt compliments Jane’s hair and asks Patterson what’s up. She shows him a tat she’s working on and it ties to an app called Snapitz and accounts tied to crime. There are photos of chess games on the accounts.
Patterson cracked it and says the numbers correspond to letters and says the message is for Adams Park Wednesday at noon where there’s an immigration rally. It’s almost noon and the team heads out but Nas stays back.
They get out at the park and split up looking for suspicious activity. Tasha spots a backpack but then a guy grabs it up. The man with the camera gun fires on the speaker several times and people go scrambling. Kane looks around in desperation as Kurt’s line of sight is blocked.
Allie isn’t happy
It’s chaos at the park and Jane spots the camera guy and calls it in. Kurt spots him and runs in pursuit. The guy grabs a hostage and fires on Kurt. Jane distracts him and Kurt fires and the shooter is down. Allie is at the FBI when they get back and she says she identified the shooter.
The senator he was shooting at is bad for O’Malley, a mob boss, whose little brother died in prison. The serial number on the gun matches O’Malley. Kurt says to bring him in. Allie wants to help but Kurt tells her to leave since it’s an FBI case.
Reed confronts Jones and asks if he was one of them. He slams him against the wall and demands to know if he abused him. Jones says someone is lying to him. A shopkeeper comes out and tells him to stop and Reed says he won’t let him get away with this and walks off.
Kurt has to go to Allie
O’Malley waits in cuffs as Kurt and Jane come in. He says he’ll only talk to Allie Knight. Kurt wants to know why he’s asking for her. Turns out she’s BFF’s with his sister. Jane stares at them talking as she walks by. Allie says let me take the lead and he agrees.
Jane goes to Patterson and tells her she recovered a memory and gives her a sketch of the ring the doctor was wearing. She says the doctor saved her after the Orion attack. Jane thanks her and leaves the sketch with her.
Allie tells Patrick O’Malley he looks like crap and he tells her he has cancer and six months to live. He asks her about dating Connor and calls him a good neighborhood boy. Kurt asks him about his cousin Donahue, the Senator, and says others were shot.
O’Malley says he’s retired
They tell him Michael, the shooter, is a known associate and he used his gun. Patrick calls him a rookie and Kurt says he’s the FBI assistant director. Patrick says he’s out of the family business and has been out since he got cancer.
Tasha makes a remark as they watch that if you’re raised by wolves, you’re always a wolf. Jane doesn’t like that. Patrick says family is family and he wouldn’t use a gun he owned. Patrick says think about it and asks who’s the new hero of New York City.
He implies that Donahue is behind it since he’s running for Governor. Allie thinks it has merit. Allie says Kurt doesn’t know Donahue. Patrick says the shooter was a Marine sniper and doesn’t miss. Kurt asks how Donahue got the mob to do it. Patrick says Donahue is the mob.
Jane cuts a deal
Kurt pulls Allie aside and says he’s lying. Allie says let me talk to him alone. Nas says this is huge if it’s true and they could take out a corrupt Senator. Jane goes inside to talk to him. Jane says she understands family loyalty and struggles with it herself.
She says his family tried to frame him for murder knowing he won’t make bail and will leave him in a cell dying and away from his family. She says don’t let it blind you and says they used him. He says he doesn’t want to spend his last days testifying.
Jane says it will be his legacy and his daughter will never know he took a stand. Patrick says he has tapes. Kurt and Allie come back in and he offers them hard evidence. Patrick says give me a plea deal and lifetime witness protection for my wife and daughter.
Kurt is jealous
Josh calls Tasha and tells her about a complaint against Reed filed by Coach Jones. She thanks the guy and calls Reed but gets voice mail. Kurt asks Allie about dating Connor and says this is weird. He says if she’s happy, it’s fine with him.
Allie says the tapes are in a safe that only opens with retinal and fingerprint scans. Tasha leaves and the team preps to take Patrick to his lawyer’s office to retrieve the tapes. They put him in a vest and they roll out. It’s a big building downtown.
Patrick asks them to take his cuffs off but Kurt says no. Allie is there with them and Nas, Kurt and the others are there. Melissa, his attorney, greets them and the lawyer asks for a warrant. Jane shows them trouble in the lobby – an ambush. Kurt says they’re under attack – they came for Patrick.
Prepping for an attack
Kurt contacts Patterson for backup but a UN event means it could be slow. Patrick says he thinks there’s an FBI leak. Allie says she’s taking Patrick to get the tapes. Kurt begs Jane to keep them both safe. Jane nods and heads off at a run.
Kurt directs the law firm staff to all go get behind locked doors and stay there until it’s safe. Patrick tries to open the safe and can’t. Allie says it’s his cancer meds. Jane says they need to evacuate. Allie asks Patterson about bypassing the hand scanner.
She says knock the tumbler off and Jane hits it with a fire extinguisher. Nas and Kurt wait with guns out and open fire on the guy in the elevator. They kill him and wait for the next elevator. Patterson talks Jane through dealing with the safe.
Attack goes sideways
Jane gets the safe open, grabs the case and they head out. Jane tells Kurt that they’re coming back. Kurt tells them they’re coming down from an upper floor. It’s a gun battle and now Allie is in it too. Kurt tells Jane to find an exit and get them out.
The lawyer points out the emergency stairwell and Jane takes out an attacker. Allie takes out another. Jane asks Allie if she trusts Patrick and she nod so they uncuff Patrick and give him a gun. Jane tells Patrick not to make her regret this.
She tells them to move together with her. They open fire and move. Jane has them in a stairwell but then spots gun men. They swap fire. Some come out of a nearby floor and Allie is shot in the leg. Jane puts her belt on her. It was the lawyer that tipped off Donahue.
Pregnant pause
Mel says she needed him to get into the safe. Jane uses Patrick to stop the bleeding and cuffs Mel the lawyer to the staircase and takes her key card. They leave her. Patrick helps Allie. Jane shoots the card reader and tells Kurt that Allie was shot.
Kurt comes running firing like a madman. Allie tells Jane she’s pregnant with Kurt’s child. Reed is at Jones’ house and goes down into the basement. He looks around and starts going through things. He sees some photos and then keeps prying
He finds a hollow panel and clicks it open. Inside are rows of video tapes. He finds one with his name on it. The year on it says 1996. Reed turns on the TV and pops the tape into the VCR. He hesitates before pressing play.
Patrick plays hero
Jane searches for supplies to help save Allie. Patrick tells her he’s sorry and Allie says it’s not his fault. Kurt asks Patterson the quickest route to Allie. One way is fast and one way is safe. Jane has a plan to stop the bleeding. Nas yanks Kurt back and says she has an idea.
He was ready to take a suicide run. Nas starts messing with chemicals. Jane talks to Allie to keep her conscious and makes small talk about the baby. Kurt can hear it all. Jane makes her scream while she tries to stop the bleeding.
Nas makes a small explosive and Kurt shoots it and it takes out some of the gunmen. They run. Jane says the men got through the door. Allie says they have to go and Jane says they have to carry her. Patrick runs off but left some evidence. Jane says he bought them time.
Jane saves Kurt’s baby
Jane says thinks about your baby and we have to go. Patrick took the case to make it look like he had the evidence. They shoot at him and he shoots at them. Jane runs off with Allie on her back and Kurt shoots down two that were behind them.
Kurt grabs Allie from her and she asks him what took him so long. At the hospital, Allie tells Kurt the baby is fine. He says he can’t let anything happen to her and she jokes that she’s on desk duty anyway after being shot. She asks if he’s going to take a desk job too.
He says why and she says he’ll be a dad and then asks if his advice is only for mothers. Allie says she wants their child to see that she can kick ass and be an awesome mom. Kurt kisses her on the head. Later, Jane is in the locker room and Kurt comes in and thanks her.
Jane makes nice
Jane asks if she’s okay and says of course. Jane smiles and says congrats. She says he’ll make an amazing dad and he says he wishes he had that confidence. He thanks her again. Jane walks out and shakes her head to clear it. Patterson intercepts her with news.
Patterson says the ring is common sold in markets in Kabul but it’s a variation from the tribal design. She says it may have been a one off so she couldn’t find an exact match. Jane thanks her for trying. Jane looks at the card from the guy at the party – Oliver Kind – and calls him.
She leaves voice mail and reminds him they met at the gala and asks him to go out for a drink. It gets awkward. She rolls her eyes at herself. Shepherd tells Roman that Jane recovered a memory about Afghanistan and
Roman worries
Roman asks if she remembered Chris and Shepherd says not yet. Roman says if she finds out we lied, she’ll lose trust. Roman says let me bring her on the mission so Jane will feel more invested. Roman says after that, it won’t’ matter what she remembers. Shepherd agrees.
Nas tells Kurt they made the evening news and they see Donahue’s arrest. Kurt tells Nas he’s sorry and she says no apology needed. He says he was ready to make a bad decision and she kept him in line. Patterson comes in and says this is huge.
She tells him she decoded the black hole image. It’s emails and she says she knows where Douglas Winter is – that’s the guy that made Carter shut down Orion. Mayfair was working with Winter. Wow. That’s big. Tasha tracks Reed’s phone to Jones’ place.
Tasha tracks Reed
She sees the open back door and goes inside gun drawn. She creeps around the house and sees Jones bleeding on the floor and Reed there looking like a scared deer in the headlights. Looks like what was on the tape was bad. Looks like Reed killed him.
THE END!
