Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that the coming year will bring plenty of drama. However, we can’t move on without looking back at some of 2016’s best performances. Take a look at our favorite actresses and the scenes they shined brightest in.
Obviously, we have to mention Kate Mansi’s brilliant work as Abigail. Mansi took the character to new depths as Abigail lost her grip on reality. She hit all the right notes of Abby’s slow descent into madness. When Abigail finally snapped, Mansi gave us some of the best scenes of 2016 and her Days career.
Who could forget when Abigail tied Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) to the bed and taunted him for revenge? Mansi gave us rage, maniacal laughter and so much more. She had some powerful moments at Shady Hills, too. Mansi’s DOOL exit story made it even tougher to say goodbye to her.

Melissa Reeves (Jennifer) also delivered a fantastic performance. Most Days of Our Lives fans were impressed by Reeves’ take on Jennifer’s drug addiction. Her frazzled and flighty demeanor helped us see the terrible road Jen was headed down.
Reeves was given a standalone episode that focused on her fight to break free of painkillers. Her scenes with Matt Ashford (Jack) and Bryan Dattilo (Lucas) were especially noteworthy. When Jennifer scrambled to find extra pills, Reeves made our hearts break for her.
Of course, her work with Marci Miller has also been excellent. Reeves and Miller’s mother-daughter chemistry has gone a long way toward helping us adjust to the recast. Speaking of adjustments, Theresa (Jen Lilley) certainly went through some changes in 2016. Jen Lilley did an awesome job with her departure storyline.
Once Theresa’s evil ex popped back up in her life, she knew what she had to do. Theresa made Brady (Eric Martsolf) believe she didn’t love him. She had no choice if she wanted to keep Brady and Tate safe. It was actually nice seeing Theresa revert to “bad girl” mode. Lilley has always played that side of the character quite well.
Nevertheless, what really stood out was Theresa’s underlying love and pain. Lilley let us see that Theresa was truly making a huge sacrifice. One minute Lilley was smirking and shouting for the charade. The next she was breaking down privately as she showed Theresa’s sorrow. It was the perfect blend and many viewers hated to see Lilley go.
Finally, we have Hope (Kristian Alfonso). Honestly, what hasn’t Hope been through this year? She’s had a rough stretch, but that just gave Kristian Alfonso the opportunity to show her stuff. Alfonso had some significant moments, including when Hope came unhinged and pumped multiple bullets into Stefano (Joseph Mascolo).
Days is undoing the murder now, but the scene still stands as a great one. Alfonso also displayed her talent in Ciara’s (Vivian Jovanni) rape arc, Aiden’s (Daniel Cosgrove) return storyline and the bomb disaster. Now Alfonso is impressing us with Hope’s current prison stint. She’s been a busy gal!
