Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Eric (Greg Vaughan) is headed back to Salem. This is fantastic news for Days fans who have been longing for the crucial member of the Brady clan. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Greg Vaughan has already taped scenes that will begin airing on January 17, 2017.
There’s nothing official about the length of Vaughan’s stint, but word has it he will also air in February and possibly March. Vaughan can currently be seen on OWN’s Queen Sugar, which was recently renewed for a second season. It’s not clear whether Vaughan will continue to be part of the cast or not.
“After coming toward the completion of Queen Sugar, I had the opportunity to speak with the executives and head writers at Days of our Lives,” Vaughan said. “I’ve always been proud of my time and the work I contributed to Days, and I was excited at the opportunity to reunite with the cast and crew.”
Regardless of how long Vaughan sticks around, it should be nice to see Eric again. Many viewers hated to see Eric go down such a dark road before his exit. His drinking spiraled out of control and he caused a horrible car accident before being written off the show. Eric created tremendous pain for several of his loved ones.
Jennifer’s (Melissa Reeves) back was injured and she quickly became addicted to painkillers. Brady (Eric Martsolf) needed a heart transplant and that brings us the worst offense of all. Eric killed Daniel (Shawn Christian), who he considered his best friend. Dr. Dan was engaged to Nicole (Arianne Zucker), the love of Eric’s life. It was all a huge blow for the former priest.
In other words, Eric truly went out at rock bottom. He was hauled off to prison for a five-year sentence, but we all knew he wouldn’t stay behind bars that long. DOOL only leaves our favorite characters locked up until they’re needed for another storyline.
Eric was written into a terrible corner and we’re hoping Days of Our Lives can undo at least a little of the damage. Most of us would love a scenario where Eric comes home and performs an act of heroism. Eric needs a chance to step up and save the day. He deserves a shot at redemption and forgiveness.
Naturally, “Ericole” fans are hoping for reconciliation. It may be too soon for a romantic reunion, but inching toward friendship would be a great start. Nicole is still grieving and she can’t help but blame Eric for killing her fiancé. Daniel’s death will be a tough obstacle to get past, but it’s not impossible.
Soaps have these types of situations all the time. Nothing is unforgivable in the world of daytime dramas. We just need to see Eric on the right path. It should be interesting to see what updates lie ahead for this important character. Stay tuned to DOOL and don’t forget to check CDL often for the latest Days of Our Lives spoilers, updates and news.
