Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Brady (Eric Martsolf) will continue to struggle as he faces life without Theresa (Jen Lilley). He’ll be getting a new love interest soon and many Days fans suspect it might be Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin). However, that hasn’t stopped everyone from wondering what the future holds for Theresa.
DOOL left Theresa’s exit open-ended, which means it will be easy to bring her back if it ever works out. Theresa intends on getting the dirt she needs to bring Mateo (Andoni Gracia) down. Of course, Shane (Charles Shaughnessy) is a respected ISA agent and he hasn’t been able to accomplish that in a decade.
In other words, Theresa can’t waltz in and expect to nail this guy right away. It’s going to take some time. That settles what’s going on with the character, but what about Jen Lilley? You might be curious why she left and what she’s up to.

Lilley wanted to pursue other projects in both her personal and professional life. She’s been taking in foster children and she’s currently shooting a new movie in Vancouver. Lilley has also had roles in other films as well as notable guest spots on shows like Grey’s Anatomy.
It seems Lilley is finding work outside of Days, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t interested in a return. Days tends to become a second family to the cast members. Plenty of former DOOL stars end up back in Salem sooner or later. Due to the taping schedule, some of them even want back on by the time their last episodes air.
When a fan complained about Theresa’s departure on Twitter, Lilley had an interesting response. The viewer noted that the show should recast if Lilley isn’t returning. Lilley replied, “They can call me. They have my number.” It sounds like Lilley would be on board for a comeback under the right circumstances.
Most Days of Our Lives buzz suggests that there were negotiation troubles when Lilley chose to leave. Sometimes soap stars want to branch out and their contracts make it difficult to schedule other projects. Lilley might like the idea of coming back on recurring instead.
Days might be hesitant to do that though. It could present problems if Theresa is involved in a major storyline and Lilley needs time off to shoot something else. Plus, DOOL is trying to build up the age group Theresa falls in. They want those characters front and center fairly often.
Those were most likely the issues when Lilley left and she could face the same issues coming back. Nevertheless, Days of Our Lives tends to work it out when they really want someone. They’ll undoubtedly want to revisit this whole Mateo thing down the road. It all feels so unresolved.
Perhaps when Brady has finally moved on, Theresa will return for a love triangle. That would definitely provide some soapy fun. It’s worth mentioning that Lilley ran lines with Meredith Scott Lynn (Anne) a few months ago. They seemed to be prepping for a scene, so maybe Theresa will reach out to her pal for an appearance or two at some point.
