Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that the NBC soap is celebrating an important milestone. The show is currently taping its 13,000th episode. That’s quite an accomplishment! We’ve seen some fantastic characters and storylines in Salem over the years.
Ken Corday, the executive producer of Days, spoke with Glamour.com about the significant occasion. Plus, he offered some hints on what’s to come. In fact, Corday confirmed some big news that’s been whispered about for months.
Leann Hunley will be reprising her role as Anna soon. Of course, longtime DOOL fans know that Anna and Tony (Thaao Penghlis) were a popular pairing. We also know that Thaao Penghlis is around. It would be a shame if they didn’t put Penghlis and Hunley back together!
Could Anna fall for Andre because he looks like the love she lost? That’s a possibility. There’s even a chance that Andre has been fooling us from the beginning of his latest run. What if Andre is really Tony? Thanks to plastic surgery, these two look identical. Tony might have his reasons for deceiving everyone.
On the other hand, Tony may just pop up right along with Andre. Days has managed to set up Andre as Stefano’s (Joseph Mascolo) successor. We’d hate to see them fiddle with what they’ve created too much. Maybe Tony will simply return from the dead as well. It would be fun to watch Penghlis play a dual role again.
In addition, Corday talked about Shane (Charles Shaughnessy) and Kim (Patsy Pease). Everyone’s been assuming that Theresa’s (Jen Lilley) parents would be back for her exit, but it seems that may not be the primary reason for their return. Corday noted that Shane’s story would involve Hope (Kristian Alfonso) in some way.
When asked which stories he was most excited about, Corday said there were two that he can’t wait for viewers to see. One of them involves Chad (Billy Flynn), Abigail (Marci Miller), JJ (Casey Moss) and Gabi (Camila Banus). “They are very vibrant and good actors, the young future of the show,” Corday said.
It’s nice to see this age group will be getting more airtime. To balance everything out, Days of Our Lives will be cutting back on Salem’s teen scene. “I think we have pushed the envelope with them initially by having them air a lot…they’ve taken more of a side stage role,” Corday admitted.
As for the other storyline that Corday is pumped for, it will center around Nicole (Arianne Zucker). Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin), Deimos (Vincent Irizarry), Brady (Eric Martsolf) and another returning character will also take part of this mysterious plot. Corday noted that this storyline involves a child and whose “baby it is will be a shocker.”
We know that Chloe will learn she’s pregnant eventually. Is Corday talking about her kid? If so, Deimos is probably not the “baby daddy.” He would be too obvious for a shocker.
Then again, this story could be headed in another direction entirely. Corday mentioned that Nicole was the center of it. Could one of Nicole’s deceased babies turn out to be alive after all?
Corday is getting us fired up about the great material that’s in the works. Days of Our Lives will take a two-week hiatus during the Olympics this August, but you can expect some epic moments before and after the break. “We’ll certainly end on a cliffhanger,” Corday said. “We’ll come back with a real bang.”
