Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Dr. Valerie Grant will soon return to Salem in the form of a new actress. Tina Andrews expressed interest in reprising the role, but the NBC soap chose to go in another direction. DOOL opted not to use any of the previous portrayers of Valerie.
The part will now be played by Vanessa Williams, but it may or may not be the one you’re thinking of. If your mind immediately jumped to the singer and former Miss America, then you’ve got the wrong Vanessa Williams. We’ll be seeing a different Williams featured on Days in the near future.
You might recognize this one from shows like Melrose Place, The Bay and The Flash. Williams looks like a great fit for the role of this compassionate doc. The casting call noted that Valerie has had to endure adversity, but her experiences have brought her wisdom rather than cynicism.
Valerie will be the strong and courageous type. She should be exactly the kind of woman Abe (James Reynolds) wants. After being shot by Clyde (James Read), Abe will need a specialist to oversee his recovery.
Paging Dr. Grant! We don’t know for sure if Valerie will be involved in nursing Abe back to health, but it seems likely.
Of course, this won’t be the first time Abe and Valerie have connected. Many viewers will recall that they’re actually former flames. Days of Our Lives spoilers indicate that Abe and Valerie’s growing relationship will be met with disapproval from Theo (Kyler Pettis).
Although Valerie is a kind individual, she’s still going to make a few mistakes along the way. When Theo realizes Valerie has been lying about something, he’ll feel like she’s not a good match for honest Abe. Theo will undoubtedly make it clear that he’s not on board with this pairing.
Nevertheless, Theo may just have to deal with it. Days of Our Lives spoilers suggest that Abe and Valerie will become quite close. He’ll be glad to have Val around. Lani (Sal Stowers) will pop up eventually as well. Perhaps Theo could use advice from his older sis.
They never really had a chance to bond during Lani’s first stint. This would be an excellent opportunity for these siblings to truly get to know each other. It should be nice for Abe to share additional scenes with Lani, too.
Days may try to go a little deeper with this family once everybody is back in the picture.
Will Valerie and Abe’s romance be a fling or something more? Time will tell, but it sounds like DOOL has big plans for this returning doctor. Love is in the air and it could lead to some surprising moments for Abe.
