Garry Shandling is dead at 66. The Larry Sanders Show star died from a massive heart attack on Thursday, March 24 at a Los Angeles area hospital. TMZ sources report that a 911 call originated from Garry’s home and the comedian was rushed to the hospital. The insider divulged that Garry was alive upon arriving at the medical facility.
Friends Bob Odenkirk and Kathy Griffin enjoyed time with Garry just this past weekend, March 20, as a TMZ photo shows. Sources say they do not think Garry Shandling had been ill and do not believe Garry had any health conditions that would have caused his death. However new news says that cause of death was a sudden heart attack.
One of the actor/comedian’s first appearances on television was as a guest host on The Tonight Show. The self-titled sitcom It’s Garry Shandling’s Show led to his best known role as Larry Sanders on the HBO comedy.

The comedian was nominated for 19 Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. The Larry Sanders Show was the recipient of three Primetime Emmy Awards, five CableACE Awards, four American Comedy Awards and two British comedy awards.

In addition, Time magazine included The Larry Sanders Show on its list of “100 Best TV Shows of All Time.” The comedy was part of the HBO original programming lineup from 1992 until 1998.
