New General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Alexis Davis (Nancy Grahn) seeing Julian Jerome (William DeVry) hanging around The Floating Rib while he’s really in jail may be more than stress getting to her. This could be a symptom of an impending health crisis for the disbarred lady lawyer.
Remember back when Julian was just about to be arrested and Alexis agreed to wear a wire? She had a dizzy spell that seemed convincing and gave Julian a fake pregnancy test. Since Alexis is post-menopausal, the pregnancy seemed far-fetched, but the nausea seemed to be legitimate.
Alexis demonstrated those symptoms in front of others as well. But with Alexis being tasked by the PCPD to wear a wire and trap her hubby into a confession and then Julian trying to kill her, being a little queasy didn’t seem like that big of a deal. But now it turns out it might be.
Alexis has been under a lot of stress what with Julian being arrested, her being the star witness against him, and her recent disbarment as well. But that’s not enough to explain why she began, out of the blue, to hallucinate her imprisoned husband at The Floating Rib.
And it wasn’t just a little glimpse of Julian or Alexis mistaking someone else for her homicidal hubby. Nope. Alexis thought she saw him there in full form and was talking to him. That’s a deep and serious hallucination episode. What is going on with that?
Has Alexis’ lung cancer returned? Are the dizziness, nausea and now hallucinations all symptoms that her serious illness is back and perhaps worse this time? Alexis had stage two cancer previously and it was a big deal. These could be signs of a new health crisis.
Last time Alexis had cancer, she also behaved somewhat erratically. You might remember that she spent an improbable night in then-Mayor Floyd’s bed and also got involved with Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roche). So seeing her jailed husband at the local gin joint seems in line with her former crazy behavior.
Hallucinations can come with certain cancers if there are neurological impacts or if tumors have spread to the brain. The bottom line is, whether it’s cancer or not, something is clearly wrong with Alexis. Hallucinations mean that she’s ill – mentally, physically, or both.
Given that any cancer can recur, Alexis could very easily have another bout of lung cancer hitting her. Alternately, she could be having a serious mental breakdown. Or, realistically, the stress of her personal life crumbling is piling onto her medical issues.
Since Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) observed Alexis having the hallucinogenic fit, at least someone knows. Plus, Tracy just went through her brain worm crisis, so she understands how easy it is to neglect your medical issues because you’re trying to be a strong woman and parent.
How long until Alexis seeks out medical attention for her hallucinations? Will she put off going to the doctor because she’s so busy with Sam Morgan’s (Kelly Monaco) wedding and pregnancy and is depressed from losing her husband and law license?
