‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers tease that Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) may be pulling a fast one on many people who care about him if he is, in fact, NOT dying at all. Is Finn just a junkie with a hankering for a rare drug to satisfy his narcotic needs? What do you think? Read the facts then vote in the CDL POLL.
Is Finn dying or addicted?
Finn just told Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) that he and his wife contracted the same rare disease and that it can’t be cured yet but the “medication” he needs keeps him alive. Sonny is considering calling up some of his shady contacts to try and hook Finn up with what he needs because Finn has been helping Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright). But is Sonny just enabling Finn’s addiction?
Could Finn be both dying and addicted?
Who’s to say that Finn can’t be dying and also be a drug addict. Perhaps the illness he’s suffering is quite painful and the illegal substance is what keeps the pain at bay long enough for Finn to function and keep on working. Naomi Dreyfus (Robin Riker) told Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) and Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) that the drug Finn has been using is similar to heroin in potency.
Is Finn’s whole backstory a lie?
Another option is that Finn has been lying to everyone since he was first found looking ill. Perhaps what Hayden thought was an attack of his illness was really Finn in withdrawal because he didn’t have the drugs he needed at that time. DTs (i.e. withdrawal) can make people physically ill and feel like they’re dying. In some cases, addicts can actually die if they’re abruptly cut off of their drug of choice.
Does Finn have an illness at all? Did he have a wife that died? Is all that part of a larger fabric of lies that he constructed to get what he wants out of people? That seems like a stretch. Finn honestly seems to value life and cares about being a good doctor and didn’t know when he brought up Raymond Berlin ruining his research that Hayden would ever be his friend.
Can Finn explain away the addiction?
Now that Tracy and Hayden have been told by Naomi that Finn is an addict, it seems like an unpleasant intervention is in order. Good thing Finn already went to Sonny about getting him the “medicine” that he needs. It’s going to be a hard sell for Finn to convince the ladies he’s not shooting up for fun. After all, how many people medicate themselves by shooting a substance into a vein?
That definitely seems more like drug addict behavior than medicine administered for an illness. What’s far more likely is that Finn is such a clever doctor that he figured out that endorphins or other brain chemicals released when he shoots up this street drug help combat the symptoms of his illness. So yes, he’s doing an addictive drug – but he could legitimately be doing it to stay alive.
What do you think?
Is Finn really sick or is he just a no-good drug addict who’s been fibbing to the friends who have been trying to help him? Do you think Finn has the same illness that his wife had and the illegal drugs are necessary to keep him alive? Or is he just getting high to forget about his troubles? Is Finn fighting for his life or merely scrambling for his next fix?
