‘Grey’s Anatomy’ spoilers are confirming that Sara Ramirez is OUT at the ABC primetime drama, and Dr. Callie Torres won’t be returning any time soon. Sara Ramirez debuted as Dr. Torres over 10 years ago and has been a key character on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ for a decade.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ spoilers teased earlier this year that Callie Torres might be leaving town and taking a job across the country – but we all know that doesn’t necessarily mean goodbye on the ABC drama. Seriously, how many doctors have toyed with the idea of leaving and taking another job as major storylines.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ fans were devastated when Callie broke up with her long time partner, Arizona, and the couple was locked in a messy custody battle over their daughter. In an ironic twist, Arizona wound up getting full custody, rather than their daughter’s birth mom Callie. At that point, it became pretty clear that the rumors were true and Sara Ramirez was leaving ‘Grey’s.’
Ramirez took to social media to confirm the spoilers that her character Callie Torres was not returning to the canvas. She said goodbye to ‘Grey’s’ fans and thanked her colleagues and Shonda Rhimes for all of their support in an interview with TV Line.
Sara’s message stated, ““I’m deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family at Grey’s Anatomy and ABC, but for now, I’m taking some welcome time off. Shonda [Rhimes has] been so incredible to work for, and we will definitely continue our conversations. I send my love to Ellen [Pompeo], the rest of the cast and crew, and I look forward to always being a part of the Shondaland family!”
