Eve was back in town on tonight’s episode of “How to Get Away with Murder” and, surprisingly, she was having some fun with Annalise for once. Usually, the two were dealing with one crisis or another yet tonight the two had actually gone out clubbing and had even shared a few drinks with a couple guys of that were interesting in them. So Annalise had been pretty hungover the next morning when she had to go to court and she had to heavily rely Asher who was her first chair. Though Asher had apparently had gotten nervous beforehand and he had been a complete train wreck in court when the ADA suddenly saved him by putting a halt to the trial.
Although, the ADA had hadn’t done what he did as an act mercy. He had actually put a halt to court proceedings because he claimed that he had recently heard from the Philadelphia Bar Association’s disciplinary board and that Annalise’s license was under review. So Annalise technically couldn’t try a case much less defend Tristan who was accused of stealing credit cards and so Tristan’s entire trial was in limbo. The teenager who he had had a rough upbringing because he had been abused by his parents had taken some credit cards that didn’t belong to him, but he was a good kid and there also was the fact that no one had any idea where the money went.
So what Tristan needed was a good lawyer who could get him probation rather than jail however Annalise could no longer defend him. The ADA had been right and her license had been under review yet she was going through process of possibly losing everything because of Toby. Toby had been a recent client that had killed two women and she had slapped him in order to get him to agree to a plea bargain. But slapping her client was considered to be an assault and someone had gotten a video of the incident to show to the disciplinary board. And so all Annalise wanted to know was who had turned that video over and in the meantime she had Bonnie step in to take over Tristan’s case.
Bonnie still had her license and she could be just as ruthless as Annalise. So Bonnie took over the legal clinic as well and she had all of the law students look into what they could find to defend their client. However, Asher had asked Oliver to look into where all the money went and that eventually led them to finding out that their client was about to be a father. Tristan it seems had used the credit cards to buy up baby stuff for the child he was about to have and he admitted that he couldn’t tell anyone about his pregnant girlfriend because she was also his teacher though Bonnie didn’t really care about protecting the teacher. Bonnie had said that the teacher had taken advantage of him so she had decided to use that in court without Tristan’s knowledge.
Asher hadn’t exactly agreed with Bonnie’s methods and had asked her not to think of her own past when she looked at Tristan. Though, in the end, Asher had seen Bonnie’s point because Tristan didn’t realize that his teacher didn’t love him. The teacher whose real name was Susan had actually preyed on a student that she knew was abused as a child and was vulnerable to manipulation. So Bonnie had put Susan on the stand and she had accused Susan of raping her client. Which was what made Tristan steal the credit cards in the first place. And Susan had ultimately chosen to plead the fifth rather than admit to what she did or even claim that she cared about Tristan.
So Bonnie had had a point about Susan being a predator and Asher saw that when Susan had tried to turn on their fifteen-year-old client in open court. Yet, Tristan hadn’t wanted any of that to happen and he had hated Bonnie and Asher for putting Susan on the stand. Tristan had said that his baby was now going to be born in prison and that the child was going to end up just like him. Meaning the baby would be another child in the system. And what he refused to see was that he had been a victim.
Asher, though, had taken Bonnie’s side afterwards and he had comforted her after their client had yelled at them both for ruining everything. Asher had told Bonnie that they had gotten their client off which was a great thing and that they had tried to protect Tristan even if he couldn’t see it right now. But Bonnie had doubted herself and later she had needed to go to Annalise when she had heard that her father had died in a prison hospital. Bonnie as it happens hadn’t known that her father had been moved to a hospital or that she had been his next of kin. So finding out that he had been in Coalport and had died was a shock to her.
Bonnie however hadn’t known that Frank had been traced to Coalport so a long conversation with Laurel was in order. Laurel had been trying to contact Frank with her new cell phone and, because she wasn’t sure if she should believe that Annalise had tried to kill him, she had been disappearing a lot on her friends in cased he called her back. However, Wes had noticed that she had been disappearing and he had asked her about it. So she had told him that his girlfriend Meggy, who Wes had somehow convinced to remain his girlfriend, was throwing him a surprise birthday party and Wes had simply been so overjoyed by that because he had never had anyone to do that for him that he had overlooked what Laurel was actually doing.
Although, strangely, Laurel hadn’t honestly known what she would do if Frank answered her call again. All she did know that she wanted to protect him and so she had thought she was doing the right thing by hiding his location, but everting had changed when she had overheard Bonnie talking about her father. Laurel felt guilty about hiding Frank because she didn’t if he had possibly killed Bonnie’s dad out of spite. So she later confessed everything to Bonnie. Laurel had told Bonnie that she knew where Frank was and that Frank might have killed her father. And, well, Bonnie hadn’t seemed to care about what happened to her dad, but she had cared enough about Frank that she told Laurel not to say anything to Annalise.
But Annalise had been unraveling lately and while claiming to be an alcoholic had saved her from having her license revoked – her recent change of temperament had pushed Nate away and had ruined her professional standing with the president of the university. Annalise had unfortunately found out that it had been one of the board members at the school that leaked the video so she had wanted retribution for that and the president had basically told her that nothing was going to happen. And said that it was Annalise’s fault that they wanted her out.
The Board Members and even the president herself had wanted Annalise gone. So they had all been hoping that she would lose her license because that would null her tenure. Yet, Annalise had managed to save herself and her career for now so the school wasn’t going to rid of her anytime soon though Annalise’s victory was slightly hollow because she had no one to share it with. Nate had gone off to sleep somewhere else with someone else and Eve was apparently in a committed relationship with someone she truly cared about. And Eve had also gone on to say that she was moving to the West Coast to be with her girlfriend.
So Annalise had lost her number one confidant with Eve going away. However, fast-forward four weeks into the future and Annalise practically was losing everything else. Annalise for some reason or another had gotten arrested for the fire at her house because the fire had killed someone and had nearly killed Laurel. Laurel being the victim that the firefighter had pulled out of the burning building alive so the doctors were valiantly trying to save her life as well as her unborn baby’s (say what!!!). And so Annalise could finally be going to jail this time.
