Kate Middleton has caused uproar with Prince George’s 3rd birthday photos. The Duchess of Cambridge has been accused of animal cruelty because George is feeding the Cambridge’s black cocker spaniel, Lupo, ice cream in one of the photographs.
Yes, you read that correctly – and we’re shaking our heads too. Daily Mail reports that some animal cruelty campaigners are blasting Kate Middleton and Prince William for allowing George to feed Lupo ice cream. It started with one tweet from Conservative call-in talk show host D. Richard Caseum – @MyOpinionPod – and snowballed from there.
Caseum tweeted that Prince George shouldn’t give Lupo ice cream because, “At worst: it’ll die, At best: the dog will diarrhea everywhere!” Now, keep in mind D. Richard Caseum makes it clear on his Twitter account that this is all parody and satire.
Some people seemed to forget the warning about satire and parody from My Opinion Pod and took Caseum to task calling the remarks irresponsible. The talk show host cleared things up a bit by tweeting that dogs are lactose intolerant, lactose is not poison and, “READ my disclaimer pls.”
Tom McArthur, head of editorial at Upday UK, felt the need to join in the debate over dogs and ice cream. McArthur tweeted, “Why is Prince George trying to kill this dog by feeding it a white Magnum?” Seriously? A three-year-old is trying to kill the family pet?
The RSPCA responded to the ridiculous animal cruelty charges lobbed at Kate Middleton. A statement was issued to the Daily Mail that while it’s wonderful that Prince George wanted to share ice cream with Lupo it’s important to remember that chocolate and dairy products can be highly toxic for pets. A long list of items you should never feed your dog followed.
At least the RSPCA didn’t overreact to a little boy offering his doggy some ice cream, just offered a reminder. If you look at the photo, it doesn’t appear as if Lupo wants the ice cream anyway.
People need to relax – especially the guy that tweeted that Prince George should be put in prison for giving Lupo ice cream which was probably paid for with taxpayer money. We hope this guy was kidding.
This ice cream controversy is absolutely ridiculous, don’t you agree? Lupo is bound to eat a lot of things he shouldn’t – dogs are fond of getting into the trash.
