It has been announced by ITV that Kate Middleton was interviewed for documentary about Queen Elizabeth. Will what the Duchess of Cambridge says be scripted or honest?
ITV in the United Kingdom has ordered a documentary with the working title “The Queen at Ninety” which will be produced by Oxford Film and Television. The London-based production company has reportedly had exclusive access to Queen Elizabeth and numerous members of the Royal family for the past year.
The documentary will include interviews with Prince Charles, Camilla Parker-Bowles and Prince William. The interview that is causing the most excitement is that of the Duchess of Cambridge. This will be Princess Kate’s first interview since her engagement to Prince William.
Sure, Duchess Kate has given a few speeches over the past five years – and received scathing criticism about her public speaking skills. That’s why many are wondering is what Kate Middleton said during her one-on-one scripted by Buckingham Palace? Or was the Duchess of Cambridge permitted to speak freely?
Without a doubt ITV and the Oxford Film and Television company had to submit all the questions for approval. Did each member provide candid answers or did the Buckingham Palace public relations machine churn out the replies?
We’re guessing Kate Middleton was coached within an inch of her life for the interview. After receiving the list of questions someone most assuredly went over them with a fine-tooth comb, decided which ones the Duchess of Cambridge would be permitted to answer and then provided appropriate replies to each query.
A Royal minder or two probably sat down with Duchess Kate and made her read the prepared answers over and over again until the future Queen was able to come across as spontaneous. Wonder if there were many tears shed before the actual interview even started!
Didn’t Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip attempt this sort of documentary back in the 1969? Yes, it was called “Royal Family”’ and it documented Prince Charles investiture as Prince of Wales. It was commissioned by Queen Elizabeth, and it was, surprise, scripted!
It’s unlikely that any member of the Royal Family will provide honest feedback to the production company’s inquiries. If we had to venture a guess the “Queen at Ninety” will be a polished puff piece with a few staged intimate moments of Queen Elizabeth and the Royal Family.
