While Kate Middleton was enjoying a vacation with Prince William in France, another Royal wife was hard at work. Sophie Wessex has been training for the grueling Duke of Edinburgh Diamond Cycling Challenge that will take place in September.
A video update on Sophie’s progress was posted to the Royal Family’s official Instagram account recently. The DoE Cycling Challenge will take cyclists from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to Buckingham Palace – a total of 445 miles.
“I think if you’d asked me a few months ago if I would be able to do sixty miles I think I probably would have laughed but here we are I’m doing sixty miles!” the 51-year-old Countess of Wessex revealed in the video.
The training is difficult, more difficult than Sophie imagined. That hasn’t stopped the Countess of Wessex. She will be joined by a team of six cyclists who represent four of HRH’s regiments including 5th Battalion the Rifles, RAF Wittering, Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps, and Corp of Army Music during the 445 mile trek.
And what has Kate Middleton been doing while Sophie Wessex has been training for the 445 mile Duke of Edinburgh Diamond Cycling Challenge? The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge jetted off to France with Prince George and Princess Charlotte for a secret vacation. The Cambridge’s must have needed some downtime after Prince George’s 3rd birthday party.
But never fear – the Duchess of Cambridge will soon be back to work after an entertaining summer vacation. The Royal Family’s website announced that Kate and William will head to Luton in Bedfordshire on August 24 to visit the Keech Hospice Care and present an award to Hayward Tyler Luton.
When it comes down to who puts in the most effort with the minimal amount of attention, Sophie Wessex beats Kate Middleton any day of the week. Maybe Kate can train with Sophie for the DoE Cycling Challenge 2017. We’re always hearing how much Kate loves to work out. Wouldn’t the intensity of the DoE Cycling Challenge we the ultimate work out?
Kate training for a 445 mile cycling event? That’s never going to happen. In any case, Kate Middleton will be hard at work helping Pippa Middleton plan for the society wedding of 2017. There wouldn’t be any time at all in Kate’s schedule to train for a cycling marathon.
