This was even more evident when Kourtney Kardashian was recently spotted wearing an olive green dress that cost her a whopping $45. Yes, a Kardashian wore a relatively (emphasis on relatively) cheap dress and no one died.
The reality television star was snapped while vacationing in Miami on Thursday, September 15th. Hey, we all need a break every now and then. Being a Kardashian is hard work. All those cameras in your face; producers running around like Naked & Afraid contestants; Kim Kardashian beating down your door because she “lost her car keys on the way there”. A whole host of problems awaits you if you’re a Kardashian. The fame game is more Hunger Games than Survivor, but who’s counting the headless number of Kardashians? Am I right?
The fact is, Kourtney wore a bargain bin dress and did so with pride. The dress, aptly named “Olive Green Ribbed Knit Laceup Sleeveless Sweater Mini Dress by My Style Mode” (modeled below), is featured on mystylemode.com, a neo-stylish website selling clothes “as seen on celebrities.” It’s like Amazon for celebrity clothing clones.
The dress is juxtaposed against Kourtney Kardashian’s usual garb, which includes Cartier love bracelets worth $12,000. This is why we love Kourtney more than the other two, Kim and Khloe. Kourtney does the whole mommy-at-home vibe without coming across as vapid. She’s one of the more relatable characters in the Kardashian narrative. (Good lawd – have you seen Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian canoodling? It looks like a 90s music video starring Christopher Walken and Satan)
Whilst Kim Kardashian makes the brand expensive, Kourtney dumbs down the trademark Kardashian look and makes it more accessible to people. Kourtney is the gateway drug. She scores top points with the mommy demographic – and they love her for it.
