Lisa Lynn Masters Dead At 52: ‘Gossip Girl’ And ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ Star Found After Suspected Suicide

‘Gossip Girl’ and ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ actress Lisa Lynn Masters has died at 52. Lisa was found in a hotel room in Peru, where she had traveled to for a modeling job. The news of Lisa’s death was first reported by a local news station in Peru. The actress reportedly struggled with depression. Anti-depressants, along with a suicide note, were found with Lisa’s body in the hotel room.

Lisa Lynn Masters is survived by her husband, William Brooks, whom she married in 2004, and many loving family members, friends, and co-workers. A GoFundMe account has been set up to return Lisa to her childhood home in Ashville, North Carolina.

According to the GoFundMe page, $50,000 is needed to cover many expenses, which include funeral services, airfare, and a month of lost wages for William Brooks. The GoFundMe message reads, in part, “Our dear friend Lisa [Lynn] Masters passed away tragically on November 15, 2016. Lisa’s genuine warmth, generosity and tenacious strength will be deeply missed.”

Lisa’s manager emailed a statement to USA Today, which reads, “As to her husband and family’s wishes, we hope that the industry can mourn her death without details. In these darkening days, we hope those who have had the pleasure of knowing her will see how brightly she shined and will find that light within themselves and continue to share it with others — just as she would have.”

The actress appeared in one episode of the Emmy-winning Amazon original series ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ as Dr. Goodman. The actress had minor roles on ‘Nashville,’ ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,’ ‘Gossip Girl,’ ‘Royal Pains,’ ‘Ugly Betty,’ ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent,’ and many more.
