Natalie Cole Dead: Daughter of Nat King Cole Died At Age 65 of Congestive Heart Failure

Natalie Cole has died. The daughter of Nat King Cole is dead at 65. Congestive heart failure is the cause of death. Cole passed away on Thursday, December 31 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in a Los Angeles.

Several of Cole’s tour dates had been cancelled in late December, including the “Sophisticated Lady” songstress’s New Year’s Eve Concert at Disney Hall in Los Angeles. It is believed that complications from a kidney transplant and Hepatitis C may have contributed to Natalie’s death. Natalie Cole struggled with substance abuse for many years.

Representatives for Natalie Cole reached out to TMZ with this statement, “It is with heavy hearts that we bring to you all the news of our Mother and sister’s passing. Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle, dying how she lived..with dignity, strength and honor. Our beloved Mother and sister will be greatly missed and remain UNFORGETTABLE in our hearts forever.”

The Rev. Jesse Jackson took to Twitter to express his grief and offer the Cole family condolences. “#NatalieCole, sister beloved & of substance and sound. May her soul rest in peace. #Inseperable.”

Survived by her son Robert “Robbie” Yancy, Natalie will be remembered as one of the greatest and most distinctive voices in music history. In addition to Cole’s music career, she was also active in the Afghan World Foundation cause in support of Sonia Nassery Cole – who is no relation to the Cole family.

A Grammy winner in 1976 for Best R&B Vocalist of the Year, in 1990 for Album of the Year for “Unforgettable with Love,” and in 1992 for Record of the Year and Best Traditional Pop Performance for “Unforgettable [with Nat King Cole],” Natalie was the recipient of several Grammys as well as NAACP Awards and American Music Awards.
