Tonight’s episode of NCIS Los Angeles kicks off in San Francisco – a security guard is making his rounds late at night at what appears to be a dorm room at an academy. A boy sneaks out of his room and meets up with a girl in the rec room. She tells him that she is leaving school and dropping out. They hear a ruckus in the hallway and find that the security guard was just killed by two guys with machine guns, the boy is snatched up by the killers, but the girl makes a run for it.
Hanna wakes up to an emergency text message from his son Aiden in the middle of the night saying that the academy has been taken over by armed men. Kensi and Deeks rush to headquarters – Granger fills them in on the takeover at the academy. Callen is skeptical that the takeover is real, all they have is one text message from Aiden, no one at the academy will answer their phones, and they have a strict no cell phone policy.
Granger wants to call a few local cops in San Francisco to go check out Keating Academy. Sam says there is no way in hell they are letting a couple of cops botch this job, his son’s life is on the line. While they are arguing about what they should do, Aiden sends his father a video clip, the students are being marched down the hallway in their pajamas by the men with guns. One of the men in charge is Tahir Khaled. Aiden and the girl that snuck out of bed are hiding in a hallway. Tahir’s men hasn’t found them yet.
Meanwhile, Sam, Kensi, Callen, and Deeks board a plan and head to San Francisco. They try to come up with some sort of game plan while they are in the air. Callen takes Sam aside and tells him that he needs to call his wife Michelle and tell her what is happening. Sam says that he isn’t calling her until this is all over – he doesn’t want her worried.
At the school, Tahir drags one of Aiden’s teachers in to the office. He demands to know where Aiden is – they know that he is missing. They have accounted for every student but him. Tahir tells the teacher that he is going to shoot a student for every minute that she doesn’t find Aiden.
Sam and his team land near that academy, it’s still dark outside. They call Eric and have him hack in to the school security camera – so that they can get in to the school without Tahir knowing. Meanwhile, Tahir is getting ready to kill one of the students. Sam and Callen hear a gun shot come from inside the building.
Back at headquarters, Granger is getting worried. The kidnappers have been radio silent and they haven’t made any demands or even announced that they took the academy over. If they don’t have demands – then that means they may have no reason to not kill the hostages.
Sam and Callen manage to get in to the academy – Aiden left his dorm room window open for them. But, he’s nowhere in sight. Sam and Callen make their way down the hallway and set up cameras so that Eric can watch over them from back home. Tahir calls out for Aiden on the PA system. He tells him to come out of hiding before he kills his teacher. Sam knows that Aiden will turn himself over – to save his classmates, he and Callen rush to try and find Aiden before he comes out of hiding.
Aiden turns himself in to Tahir. Tahir tells him to call his father’s cell phone right now, or else he is going to mail him back to his father in pieces. Meanwhile, Kensi and Deeks find the girl that was hiding with Aiden before he turned himself in. Kensi switches clothes with her – and then wanders out in the hallway so that Tahir’s men will round her up and put her in the cafeteria where they are holding all of the other kids. Now they have a woman on the inside.
While Tahir is beating Aiden – Sam picks up the microphone in the office and calls out for him on the PA system. He taunts Tahir and says that they have “unfinished business.” Tahir leaves Aiden with his men and runs off to find Sam since he knows that he is in the building.
In the cafeteria Kensi is planning to take down the guards. She creates a diversion and Deeks is able to run in and shoot two of the men, Kensi stabs the third one. All of the kids in the cafeteria are safe – they start evacuating them out of the building.
Sam turns himself over to Tahir and keeps him busy while Callen searches the building for Aiden. Callen finds Tahir and unties him. Meanwhile, Sam and Tahir proceed to beat the living hell out of each other. Sam is about to deliver a deadly blow to Tahir when he sees his son Aiden. He stops himself, and lets them take Tahir in to custody alive.
Everyone manages to make it out alive. And, Tahir is officially arrested and taken in to custody – he can’t hunt down Sam and his family any more. After everything settles down, Sam makes Aiden calls his mom Michelle and tell her what happened, because he is too chicken to tell his wife. Outside, Kensi and Deeks are teasing each other by the ambulances. Sam gets checked up – Callen reassures him that Tahir is going away for good this time.
Tonight’s episode ends with Granger and Hettie having drinks together and celebrating their successful mission.
