Sam and Callen were back in Russia on tonight’s all new episode of “NCIS: Los Anegles” but never before had they been in such a dangerous positon.

The guys were tasked with breaking their old friend Arkady Kolcheck as well as a CIA operative out of a top secret Russian Prison. And unfortunately their mission in Russia was deemed too classified for the rest of their team. Who they were forced to leave back in LA. So the only back-up they had out in the field was Arkady’s daughter Anna.

And Anna was something of a loose cannon. She was smart and Callen definitely found her beautiful, but Anna’s main concern was always going to be her father rather than the CIA operative. Thus Hetty knew better than to take her eyes off Anna even if she had to keep abreast of everything by randomly spying on the guys digitally.

Although, things were pretty rocky back in LA. Granger for one hadn’t approved of Sam and Callen’s mission and he thought it was foolhardy to send them in with so little backup. So Granger actually had a few choice words for Hetty.

He told her that he should have been sent in as well and dared to say that mission shouldn’t have been sanctioned otherwise. But the reason Granger had gotten so antsy about the Russian trip was because he had asked Nell and Eric to run simulations on the prison and ways to escape it. And no matter what they tried – they couldn’t figure out a way for either Same or Callen to leave that prison safely once they had gotten inside.

So it didn’t look good for the guys but Callen had a backup plan. The guys first plan of tricking a guard into giving the men they needed some drugs that would make them appear as if they had a heart attack seemed feasible, but Callen was playing it safe when he reached out to Pavel Volkoff. And to be frank Pavel wasn’t asking for much.

In return for helping them commit a prison break, Pavel just wanted a man called Artem Fedor to be handed over to him. Which was both easy and odd. Artem had been born in Russia and he’s been living in California since he was a kid yet the only thing that seemed suspicious about Artem was the fact he had committed several credit card frauds.

And that was nothing. So Eric wanted to know why a man like Pavel was so intent on getting his hands on a man like Artem.

Yet in spite of his questions, Eric had helped Kensi and Deeks capture Artem and that meant they could give Pavel what he wanted.

Only back in Russia, the guys had managed to do what they set out for. They had gotten Arkady and the CIA operative out of the prison. But they also needed a place to hide for the night while they vetted their unknown member.

You see the guy that was claiming to be CIA had given the authorities a name associated with the Cia, but that didn’t necessarily mean he was actually CIA. So the guys had to vet him before they could even think of taking him back to the states. Much less trust him with their security.

But Randall Sharov did seem to know what to say. He had told Callen that they had met once before when Callen had been in Russia and had Randall had also provided an example of when he once saved Callen’s life. So the one remaining test had been for Randall to find them a safe house which would have been the real Randall’s job in the first place.

And Randall passed the test. He brought them to a house where they ran into an ally and in the short time they had in Russia – Callen got to meet his father. Who told him that he knew what Callen had done in his life and that he knew Callen to be a good man because of it.

So that trip to Russia had meant the world to Callen. He helped a friend, returned a favor, and learned that his parents had wanted him to know where he came from which to a man who thought he had nothing – made him feel like he had everything.

THE END!
