It looks as though this year’s Christmas celebration at Sandringham House is going to be one royal disaster for Queen Elizabeth. Instead of spending Christmas with Queen Elizabeth and the royals, Prince William and Kate Middleton want to take their two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, to the Middleton Manor to spend the holiday with her family instead.
Sources say that this will be the second time that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be spending Christmas with her parents Michael and Carole Middleton since they married in 2011.
Sources say one of the reasons why Kate wants to spend the holidays with her parents is because she doesn’t want her children having the same stuffy Christmas experience her husband had during his childhood. She wants Prince George and Princess Charlotte to have a laid-back Christmas that is full of fun, family, and laughter. Even though she knows it will upset Queen Elizabeth, Kate would rather spend her holiday with the Middletons at their home in Bucklebury instead of Sandringham Estate.
There’s no doubt that Queen Elizabeth is going to be infuriated when she finds out about Kate’s plans. Of course, another person who will end up quite upset over this is William’s father, Prince Charles. Sources say that he’s already upset over the fact that he never sees his grandchildren. In fact, royal insiders say Prince Charles has even complained that Carole Middleton gets to spend more time with Prince George and Princess Charlotte than he does.
If that weren’t enough, there might be one more person missing at Christmas lunch: Prince Harry. Reports indicate that Harry is looking to propose to his girlfriend, Meghan Markle, on Christmas Day. But because Meghan is not a member of the British royal family, she’s not invited to spend Christmas with them at their Sandringham House. That’s why Harry is looking to spend the holiday elsewhere with his girlfriend.
So far, the palace has not made any comments about the family’s holiday plans this year. Yet, sources say that Queen Elizabeth will be reeling if Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry don’t show up on Christmas day.
