Queen Elizabeth happily enjoyed an afternoon with Prince Charles at the Braemar Highland Games on Saturday, September 3. Queen Elizabeth and Charles were smiling and laughing. It must have been nice for Her Majesty and the heir-to-the throne to be rid of that commoner Kate Middleton’s meddling for a day.
Prince Charles was decked out in the traditional kilt and looked positively giddy as he and Queen Elizabeth shared a joke or two during the Braemar Gathering – the premiere event in Scotland’s Games calendar.
What was it that Her Majesty said that Charles laughed so hard the future King nearly had tears rolling down his face?
Queen Elizabeth, dressed in a lilac dress coat and hat, sat in the Royal pavilion between Charles and Philip. Queen Elizabeth was having a grand old time pointing out amusing things to her husband of nearly 69 years. The Duke of Edinburgh tried to suppress a smile but you know that old curmudgeon was having a good snicker behind his hand.
Were the senior Royals enjoying some time away from the high maintenance younger Royals, especially Kate Middleton? After a summer of reading about the lazy work shy ways adopted by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, a good giggle is exactly what Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles needed, don’t you think?
Perhaps Kate Middleton was the butt of the jokes traded between Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth. Though Kate’s laziness is no laughing matter, sometimes you just need a good guffaw over the Duchess of Cambridge’s lack of work ethic or your head may explode.
The world was laughing over the hideous blue and white patterned capris Kate wore during the visit to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Maybe Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth were having a jolly good chuckle over the ghastly ensemble that included a mannish navy blazer, much too tight cream colored blouse, and Kate’s godawful wedge shoes.
Whatever it was that had Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles laughing and smiling so much during the Braemar Highland Games it’s good to see mother and son enjoying some time together. Especially without that commoner Kate Middleton buzzing around.
