Is Queen Elizabeth retiring? That’s what critics and fans want to know, as there’s a new report that says the Queen is handing down 25 national charities to Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry. She will also be passing on more patronages to other members of the royal family as well.
The Queen has been the royal patron of more than 600 organizations. She’s been the patron of 433 organizations since 1952. Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the Queen has already given Kate the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club while Prince Harry is the new patron of RFU, England’s governing body of rugby. Prince William is expected to take over the Welsh Rugby Union while Prince Charles will be given the Holocaust Day Memorial Trust.
It’s without a doubt that Prince William and Kate Middleton won’t be too pleased with the additional work. In fact, William hinted that he’s been feeling stressed and overworked with his back-to-back royal engagements. Sources say that the last thing both he and Kate want to do is have more work put on their plates. The Duke and Duchess have long been criticized for staying at home and even canceling their public appearances at the very last minute.
But with Queen Elizabeth stepping down, William and Kate have no choice but to take on her work. That’s why the Queen is putting pressure on everyone to put in more than just the minimum effort they’ve been putting into their royal engagements and charity work. In fact, the Queen says that the future of the monarchy depends on it. That’s why she’s lightening her load. She’s making it clear that she expects William, Kate, and Prince Harry to step it up before she formally retires.
