Hate to say it, but it needs to be said. Mary knew full well that neither Abe nor Rebecca were going to appreciate Esther showing up out of the blue on tonight’s episode of “Return to Amish” yet Mary had went ahead with her decision to invite her youngest daughter to an already cramped apartment for two reasons. She had wanted Esther to experience what life might be like if she left the Amish church back in Punxsutawney and she also wanted to get under her daughter-in-law’s skin. Rebecca and Mary might be cordial to each other now though it hasn’t always been that way. And inviting Esther to cohabitate with Rebecca shows that there’s still some issues that the Schmucker women need to work through.

However, Rebecca surprisingly decided to play it safe on this one. She could have gone like she had in the past and had gotten into everyone’s face, but instead she tried to get Abe out of the house and away from the tension. So Rebecca ended up taking Abe to see her old friend Dr. Louisa. Dr. Louisa was the dentist that had made Rebecca a whole new set of dentures and that had changed Rebecca’s entire life because suddenly she felt confident and didn’t shy away from smiling. And so when Rebecca introduced Dr. Louisa to Abe, she had wanted the dentist to help Abe with own teeth problem seeing as the Amish weren’t that big on dentistry.

Only Rebecca’s plan kind of backfired in the end. For while she had good intentions, Rebecca hadn’t expected that Abe would have as many problems as he did. Abe had apparently wanted to keep his teeth so the dentist went on to see if she could preserve them. Which she could. But the problem with Abe keeping his teeth was that there were all going to require immediate care. Abe’s mouth was called a classic and tragic case of rampant decay so the dentist was going to have to do extensive work just so Abe could keep his teeth. And that was going to be very expensive, at least to a family that survived on one income.

So again Rebecca had tried to be supportive. Rebecca had told her husband that she would help pay for his surgery and keep his teeth however that was going to mean that she would get a job and that’s something that Abe didn’t want to allow. Abe’s dental work was going to cost a good twenty-one thousand so he really needed his wife’s help to pay for it. Yet, Abe’s Amish mindset and the values he had grown up had made the idea of his wife getting a job feel wrong. He said that it was the wife’s duty to say to stay home and take care of the children so that’s what he wanted Rebecca to do. And the fact that she felt like she had to get a job in order to help him out, had made him feel like he wasn’t providing for his family enough.

And so everyone back at the apartment had later tried to reason with Abe. First, by telling him that if he wanted to keep his real teeth then he was going to have to accept his wife’s help and allow her to get a job. Though Abe had somehow remained adamant about the topic. He said that he didn’t want his wife to work and had almost got into a nasty argument with Jeremiah about it when Jeremiah tried to goad simply for the fun it. So everyone had dropped the subject afterwards and it had seemed like Rebecca wasn’t going to look for a job when suddenly if not abruptly the camera cut to her applying for a job at a bakery. Rebecca had said that she wanted to bake in the English way so that’s what she’s going to do.

Now whether her husband knows about it is still unclear!

But when the Schmuckers weren’t dealing with internal strife, Sabrina and Jeremiah had gone out to dinner together and they had one of those conversations that make everyone question why they aren’t together. What with Sabrina literally calling Jeremiah her perfect guy because he’s always been there for her and willing to support her. So in a way she had left the door open for him and surprisingly he hadn’t taken her up on that particular offer. Jeremiah has been in a relationship with someone for a while now and oddly for him he actually wanted to respect the commitment he made to his girlfriend. And so while he’s with someone else, it doesn’t look like he and Sabrina are going to fall back into their old patterns of on-again/ off-again.

Kate in the meantime had gotten some feedback at work. Kate has been interested in fashion since her first trip to New York and she truly wants to make a lifelong career out of designing clothes even though some of her “friends” feel like she’s distancing herself from her Amish background by doing so. Yet, it’s what Kate wants and so she was willing to take her boss’s advice. Kate’s boss had told her that she needs to be a little more outspoken around the office because her usual demeanor was very quiet. So Kate said that she’d work on that and she may have even started with Esther and Mary.

Esther had mentioned that she would like to try English clothes however Mary had shockingly told her no. Mary had allowed her other daughter Katie-Ann to have a makeover and Mary had also gotten a makeover for herself. So when Esther had questioned her mother on why she couldn’t dress in English clothes, Kate had backed her up. Kate had said that Esther should try out English if that’s what she wants. Though Mary had again said no. Mary said that she knew her daughter Esther wasn’t ready for such an experience so she agreed to slowly introduce her daughter to the English lifestyle by first showing her around the city.

And once Esther had gotten to see some of the city, she had called home to talk to some of her friends in Punxy and ended up hearing some of the things that Rebecca has been saying about her. Esther later confronted her sister-in-law about her problem. She said that her friends have told her that Rebecca has been talking smack yet Esther confessed that she doesn’t know why. Esther said that she came to New York to help her mother and out of nowhere Rebecca called bull. Rebecca said that Esther only came to New York for herself because the young woman was selfish, spoiled, and didn’t respect anyone. So Abe quickly stepped in before Esther and Rebecca could truly go at each other and he got Esther to leave the apartment before things could get worse.

Although, after some of the things Rebecca said, don’t know how they could get worse!

THE END!
