Jane hasn’t been sleeping lately. Apparently she hasn’t had a good night’s rest since she learned that Alice Sands, as in the woman that was set on ruining her life, had gotten released from prison. And what was really killing Jane was that she still didn’t know why Alice had chosen to target her.

Jane had told Maura that she barely remembered Alice and that they probably had one conversation during their time together at the academy. However, Alice was holding onto a grudge that seemed nearly unexplainable. So Frankie and Nina have been looking into her to see if a possible motive might reveal itself though they too were left stumped. Alice once had the world at her feet yet for some reason she just burned out.

It was revealed that Alice had come from a long line of top notch cops. For instance, Frankie and Nina had read her father and grandfather’s file and they have been left in amazement. And Frankie for one had wanted to make a movie of Alice’s father’s time on the job yet Nina said that no one would believe it.

So Alice had come had exemplary family and she had looked as if she was going to be following in their path when something happened at the academy. Her father would later that she had quit because she realized her heart wasn’t in it. Although that didn’t explain why she had gone from the academy to suddenly running a drug ring. Which is why she had gone to jail.

Alice had been caught by a traffic cop with enough coke in the backseat that the District Attorney was able to make case for intent to sale. Though it was sloppy mistakes like that led to Jane catching her scent in Maine. Where she had apparently killed a state trooper just because he had asked about her license plate that had been covered up with mud.

Alice as it turns out had gotten a ride from her old cellmate Wendy and the two had stayed together right up until that incident in Maine. So not only did Alice kill someone, but she also had abandoned Wendy at the crime scene in order to make her own escape. And the state troopers eventually found Wendy wondering the woods.

Though Wendy had still been a bit high-strung by time the police had caught up with her. In fact, Wendy seemed to believe that Alice loved her and that Alice was going to come back for her. So she hadn’t wanted to betray that trust by talking to the police, yet Jane had told Wendy some hard truths.

Like how Alice had used Wendy for a ride and that she had gone back to Wendy’s family’s cabin without her though she had been long gone when state troopers had searched the place. Thus Jane told Wendy what was really happening which was Alice was making a run for it without her. And she also mentioned that Alice has been using people like her until she’s done with them.

So Wendy knew that Alice wasn’t coming back for her, but she had tried to fight Jane’s assessment. She told Jane that Alice would come back for her because Alice loved her just as much as she loved her own son. However, no one had known that Alice had a son and therefore they had to dig pretty deep into Alice’s past just to find him.

And it turned out Alice had semi-adopted young man after his mother had OD when he was five. Yet the young man claimed that Alice wasn’t a bad person. He said that she had been kind to him and had kept him off the streets when his own cousin would have had running corners. Therefore, it was almost understandable that he would believe her when she said she had been framed by cops all those years ago and that she hadn’t been running drugs.

But neither Jane nor Korsak thought that was the case.

Earlier, Maura had done a psychological profile on Alice and she said Alice had gotten used to coming in first. First in her class at high school where she had also been a cheerleader and she had wanted to be first again at the academy. Only she didn’t come in first there, Jane had.

Jane had supposedly taken what she wanted and thus Alice had then quite the police academy because she hadn’t wanted to come in second. So Alice saw Jane as the person that had then set her on her path to jail. For that is what she thought while she was locked up and evidence proved that’s where her fixation on Jane became apparent. Although Jane just didn’t get it.

She understood that Alice was a bit type A, but to destroy someone else for simply being better sounded crazy and so Jane believed her to be crazy. Yet Alice had made her escape. She had fled the crime scene with the state trooper and had used Wendy’s ID to get into Canada where she could then go anywhere.

And without anymore leads to pursue, Korsak felt it was finally time to host the wedding that he had been postponing since they found out about the state trooper. So he and Kiki were later married in front of all of their friends and everyone was pretty much enjoying the reception at the bar afterwards when an uninvited guest decided to ruin the rice throwing by firing into the crowd.

THE END!
