Detective Lee was something of a legend back in Hong Kong. Apparently the detective had orchestrated a major operation that stopped the selling of a major shipment of narcotics into foreign markets as well as putting a dent in the finances of one of the most ruthless gangs around. So Lee was definitely a superstar yet his latest act had also worked against him in the end.

It seems Lee had had a weak spot. He had a sister and his sister had been pestering him for weeks to get doing something. Unfortunately, she too was also a cop so she wanted her own chance to shine out in the field and she had found just the opportunity. The Chinese were going to send some artifacts over to Los Angeles and they had needed police escort. So Lee agreed to let his sister go, but the plane later come under attack.

The same gang that had a problem with Lee suddenly had access to his sister. Therefore, it was a bit of a mystery of what happened to her next seeing as all the guards on the plane had been burned with it yet Lee had been informed about his sister being one of them so he had wanted to get justice for her as soon as possible. And so he had left with delegation that were supposed to find the artifacts when somehow he ended up in the custody of Detective James Carter.

Carter had recently made a big stink when the simple drug arrest he was attempting had access to a helicopter. So it was pretty much common knowledge around the precinct that he had held on for dear life until he was able to drop from the helicopter into the pool. But that the helicopter had incidentally collided with nearby house costing millions in damages.

And so Carter had become something of a joke in LA. Yet, the jokester was given custody of Lee because the other LAPD officers that were working the museum case hadn’t wanted to deal with Lee. Who they felt would be more of a hindrance than anything else.

Although Lee had fooled Carter in the beginning. He had pretended not to know English in order to find out what Carter knew and once he thought Carter couldn’t help him. He revealed his secret and then said he was going to investigate what happened on his own, but he didn’t need to. Carter had also wanted to investigate what happened with the dead guards and missing artifact so he came to an agreement with Lee.

Lee was going to share what he knew about their suspects and Carter was going to help him navigate around LA. However, it was Carter’s connection otherwise known as his crooked cousin that led them to finding out someone had sold out the guards. So Carter and Lee had been questioning this man when a member from the gang stopped by.

So their lead had died and Lee had accidentally let the culprit get away. Apparently Lee had found it disconcerting to find his sister Kim still alive and working with the otherside so he had let her escape, but he would later tell Carter that he wasn’t going to let that happen for the second time. He said Kim had betrayed her country as well as the badge so he was going to arrest her one day.

Yet, Lee had seen his old friend Thomas back at the station and Thomas had informed him that the FBI couldn’t find anything and the Chinese government were ready to just pay the ransom. So Lee had thanked him for the update without mentioning Kim. Or that she was now involved with Quantou.

And Carter had picked up on that. He had realized that Lee wasn’t as resolute about bringing Kim in as he had wanted to seem. Though he hadn’t known that his own partner and very good friend Diaz had helped Lee to take a chance on Carter and maybe even Kim.

Diaz it seems had once wanted to switch from active duty to a desk job so Carter had helped. He had claimed to want to ditch his partner so they landed her on a desk duty while the rest of the precinct came down hard on him. So she told Lee that Carter was someone willing to go to bat for people he cared about and that helped Lee see Carter in a new light.

No longer were they just two people working towards a common cause and that became clear when Lee lied to Carter’s captain about their involvement with a security guard who recently ended up dead. Lee had pretended not to know of Richard in return Carter went with him to Chinatown. Where they hoped to get a new lead on the gang they were looking for.

Though Quantou eventually found them. There was a bit of a shoot-out at a noodle place in Chinatown and Kim had also been there yet she hadn’t killed Lee as her boss demanded. So Carter later used that to mean that Kim wasn’t all bad. And that she did at least still care enough of about Lee to not want to see him.

But both of their captains had soon found out about what they were really doing thanks to that same shoot-out so Carter had been put on leave and Lee had been told to come back to China.

Something that neither of them would have wanted. So their friend Diaz helped out. She had found the gun smuggler that the gang must have been using to get their weapons and she gave the guys the smuggler’s whereabouts. Fully knowing that they were going to ignore their respective captains and see what they find.

And thanks to a man still in prison, they found the statues that had been stolen. Which led them to the gang’s hideout. However, Lee’s call to his good friend in the bureau hadn’t worked out because Thomas had been on Quantou’s payroll the entire time.

So Lee was ultimately forced to take down a friend, but he still couldn’t get through to Kim who felt like her brother had shafted her back in Hong Kong. And therefore it didn’t matter that the guys recovered the statues or even took down a dirty federal agent. Kim had gotten away so Lee talked his captains as well as Carter’s captain into allowing him to stay on in LA.

While his newfound friendship with Carter was going to be put in jeopardy if Lee did end up following his threat on arresting Carter’s shady cousin.

THE END!
