After Kim Kardashian exposed Taylor Swift for allegedly lying about her knowledge of Kanye West’s new song, “Famous,” all hell broke loose. When BFF Selena Gomez tried to defend Taylor Swift on Twitter, she got dragged in and was criticized for not using the popular social media platform to talk about important issues.
Taylor Swift and Kanye West’s feud may have been blown out of proportion when Kim Kardashian decided to reveal the phone call between Kanye and Taylor in discussion about the “Famous” song. What followed was a series of SnapChats by Kardashian, sharing a video of Swift not only thanking Kanye for keeping her in the loop but also approving the song lyrics.
Swift responded quickly, denying knowing anything about the song calling her “that bitch.” However, looks like the damage was already done when Twitter deemed her as a liar.
Seeing her BFF being ganged up on, Selena Gomez used her popular Twitter handle to defend Taylor Swift. She tweeted, “There are more important things to talk about… Why can’t people use their voice for something that f–king matters?”
However, soon after she posted the message, her tweet was met with a counterattack as fans accused Selena Gomez for not using social media to discuss issues that are of importance to the country. Selena Gomez is hugely popular on Social Media and her tweets attract many thousands of likes and retweets. But there are also thousands of others who accused the singer of being a “hypocrite.”
Many fans went into an upheaval and even started a new hashtag, #SeleneGomezIsOverParty.
Selena Gomez recently was given the title of being an Instagram queen after she became the most followed celebrity on social media, a total of 90.4 million followers. With her wildly popular handle, she even defeated her ex-boyfriend/Instagram King, Justin Bieber. In fact, most of the pictures posted by Bieber were nothing but throwbacks of him and Selena kissing with simple captions, such as, “feels.”
However, many believe that Selena Gomez is better off ruling the Instagram and only concentrate on posting pretty pictures of herself, rather than inciting Twitter with her reckless posts. It will be a long time before the Disney star has the savvy to be able to do wonders on Twitter.
There are more important things to talk about… Why can’t people use their voice for something that fucking matters?
