The fact that her Pretty Little Liars character Emily Fields is an out and proud lesbian has led some viewers to question if the actress herself is gay too. Shay is very active on social media, but she tends to keep her romantic life private, further adding to the speculation.
Shay Mitchell covers the June edition of Cosmopolitan Magazine – and she sat down with Cosmo for an exclusive interview. Of course, Shay’s dating life and sexual preferences came up in the interview, and the Pretty Little Liars star had some interesting things to say.
So, is Shay straight or a lesbian? Well, as far as the PLL actress is concerned….neither. Shay dished to Cosmo that she is dating a guy right now, but she doesn’t consider herself gay, straight, or bi-sexual. Mitchell isn’t a fan of labels, and she wants to keep her options open for whatever happens.
The Emily Fields portrayer dished to Cosmopolitan Magazine, “When I started, people were like, ‘What are you?’ I’m like, right now I’m dating a guy. I don’t know what it’s going to be in three years. You love who you love: black, white, polka-dot. That’s what my dad always said. I’m never going to label myself. I could be 50 and dating a woman and then what? I said I was straight and now I’m not?”
In the article, Shay also went on to discuss her aspirations for herself after Pretty Little Liars comes to an end – and her love for crafts.
